Just had this problem last week. The problem was the door switch, which made no sense to me since the drum still turned on the other cycles. But the repair shop replaced the ($76!) switch and the machine now works fine.

SOURCE: Yes hello, My washer has a problem w/ draining. It

If water remains in the drum the unit will not go into the final spin. There may be a couple of reasons which I have experienced resulting in your problem. If water remains in the tub the unit will not go into the high speed spin.

1.) A coin or other foreign object is blocking the drain hose. Check the drain hose for foreign objects impeding the exit of the water. Shake the hose and listen for coins or a small object this unit will pass items through the pump into the hose causing blockage.

2.) The Drain hose is not raised above the machine outlet to create a siphon effect. See your manual for proper hose positioning. The hose needs to have a loop in it to work correctly.

3.) The pump is a third possibility which you should hear the impeller spinning during the drain cycle. There is a coin catch after the diaphragm of the pump that looks like a rubber boot that should be inspected for objects if you remove the pump. The pump is about $60.00 and is accessible after removing the front panel under the door. It is easy access from the front and the hose clamps will be the most difficult problem. I have a ratcheting hose clamp tool designed for this type of clamp but channel lock pliers or vice grips will work.

Maytag maxima washer won't drain

get to the back of the unit and take out the 2 screws on the back of the lid . remove the lid. look at the front electrical panel -remove the screws holding it in place. look inside the unit on the right and left side -- there may be 2 screws holding the front on - about 7 inches down. there may be two screws also at the bottom of the front panel. If the washer won't drain, should check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't drain properly, if at all. If the washer won't drain water check the drain hose. Be sure the hose did not get kinked behind the washer. Also, remove the hose from the pump and check it for obstructions. If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed.

I have a model 417 Kenmore front load washer which stopped running and shows a E 20 error message in the window. What does that mean and how can I get it operating again?

E20 error code means that the control does not see it draining water out.
When you start the washer, you should hear the drain pump running or at least making a humming noise.

A service technician would:
- Check the drain hose for restrictions
- Start the washer and listen for the drain pump operating.
- If the drain pump is not operating, a technician would then check the voltage supply to the drain motor.

The technician would remove the lower access panel by removing the screws located along the bottom of the panel to access the drain pump assembly.

If you take off your lower front access panel click this link and check item number "18": Parts_Diagram

You will see the pump inside the bottom of it, with the 2 black rubber hoses attached to it. Here is the pump sample: drain-pump-assembly Try to look this part with the correct model number of your device.

Hope this helps.

I have a Maytag washer model HAV2558AWW and it will not drain water what is the problem? I have drained water from hose that was connected to a drain so I know the hose is no blocked.

Remove the 4 screws on the back bottom left of the machine. Inside the access panel you will see the drain pump. Remove the hoses and check the pump, hose from pump to drain, and the hose from the tub to pump. Pain close attention to the hose that goes to the tub. Be sure to check up in the tub opening for any blockages from small articles of clothing. If need be, you can remove the pump by taking the belt off the bottom, and then there are 3 screws that hold the pump down.

Can't find model no. Water isn't totally draining

There's a problem in the drain system. Either the drain hose is clogged/kinked, the drain filter is blocked, or the pump itself is not working. The model number of the machine is not specified and troubleshooting may not be accurate but it may work. The following solution is for a front-loading washing machine.

Check to make sure that the drain hose is not kinked/clogged then remove the screws attaching the bottom flange of the kick panel to the machine cabinet then pull the panel down and off. Once the panel is off, the drain pump assembly can now be accessed. Detach the pump's inlet and outlet hoses then check the hoses for clogs and the pump impeller for damage and blockage. The filter is usually located in the big black hose that runs from the bottom of the tub to the pump. Remove this hose from the tub and clear the filter for any debris that may prevent water from draining out completely.

The may need to be replaced if everything is clear but water still doesn't drain out completely. Verify this condition by putting the machine to drain then keenly observe how the pump sounds while draining. Check the pump wire connections if it doesn't sound running. Indicate the exact and complete model number of the machine, if possible, for us to be able to diagnose the problem accurately should need further help.

My model wdc1025 will not drain wash water or rinse water

Hi

If the washer is not draining then it is due to a clogged drain pump or a drain filter or a kinked drain hose. To resolve the issue you’ll need to clean the drain hose, inspect if the drain hose is plugged. If the hose is fine, then remove the front kick panel and access the drain pump and filter, if you are unable to find the pump and filter remove the back panel as well and trace the drain hose to the bottom of the tub. There is a drain filter connected with the drain pump. It usually gets clogged, and needs to be cleaned every 6-8 months or so. The drain filter is a small white filter connected to drain pump with a hose. If it still doesn’t work then you’ll need to check the connections of the drain pump, check the connections with a multimeter. If it still doesn’t work then you would need to replace the drain pump. Please revert for any further assistance. Hope this helps...

How do you change the water pump?

Hi

Depending on the make and model of the washer the procedure of the replacement differs. However, in most washers, you can access the darin pump by removing the front kick panel or the back panel. Trace the drain hose to the bottom of the tub, there you would see the drain pump and drain filter. Before removing the drain hose from the filter make sure to keep a container and towels near you as there would be lots of water. If you need any further assistance please post back with the model number of the washer. Hope this helps...

We washed a small rug and we got an E-20 code. what should we do, its having problems draining!

Drain pump screen is clogged. If its makeing a bad grinding sound the pump will need to be replaced. Otherwise disasembly of the machine is required to access pump area to clean out screen. Dextrous people can probaly do this from the back or underneath unit. Its difficult and I don't recomend it to beginers or people who arn't handy. Easiest/prefered method: (This is the one I use.)

Method A units that have a bottom access panel. ie: front panel not one seamless peice.

-unplug unit
-lean back against wall for easy access.
-remove two #2 square screws form access panel.
-Loosen clamp holding hose to tub. (Big black one around 2" in diameter.)
-remove and clean screen.
-reassemble machine and test pump operation.

Method B units the have seamless front panel.

-unplug unit
-remove top. 3 screws @ back, slide top away from machine to remove.
-remove 2 screws holding console onto chasis.
-remove disp
-remove 3 screws @ and behind disp area.
-Remove console. ( tab may be holding to front panel @ middle bottom use putty knife to pry up.)
-remove 4 screws holding front pannel @ top to chasis.
-remove 2 screws holding frong pannel to chasis inside machine. Acess from top. (some models only.)
-remove bottom screws either 4 or 2 usally 4.
-remove two screws holding door lock to front panel
-remove spring from around bellow.
-remove bellow from front pannel
-remove front pannel. Tilts forward and lifts up off supports. (some models only.) or pannel ifs up and off from white tabs in side of chasis.
-unhook wires to door lock from front pannel. (plastic molex tab)
-may now access pump like in method A.

Pump Replacement
-access pump area
-remove drain hose to pump by looseing clamp and pulling off.
-remove hose to tub by losseing clamp and pulling off.
-remove power connection at back left of pump.
-unscrew two philips screws holding pump too base plate. (only one is really required.)
-replace pump
-clean pump screen or add one if not present.
-reconnect hoses.
-replug in power
-reassemble machine
-test pump operation

Stops during rinse cycle and water will not empty out of tub. ? switch to pump??? Now I have a tub full of dirty water that won't drain

Model may vary, but this could be helpful for sure.
1. Unplug machine. Drain out maximum water by lowering the drain pipe into bucket or lower drain.
2. Remove the lower kick plate under the door. There will be a screws in the bottom corners of the panel holding it on.
3. Find the drain pump. It will be on the right-hand side and is
usually white in color. The drain hose from the bottom of the tub
will be connected to it.
4. Remove drain hose from standpipe and connect a wet/dry shop vac (if you have one) to the end of it.
5. Turn vacuum on and watch the drain hoses from the tub and from the pump. If the hoses collapse, you have a clog somewhere.
6. Remove the drain hose leading to the pump. Check the impeller area of the pump for debris. This is usually where coins, clothing labels and other items get caught.
7. Clean out the pump and drain hoses. Located in the hose coming down from the tub is the filter, check this out for cleaning.
8. When finished, reconnect any drain hoses that you previously removed making sure you get a good seal with the hose clamp BEFORE you fill the machine. If you notice a leak during fill, hit the "cancel" button to stop. Make sure you place the drain hose back in the standpipe too.

Ge washer model#wjsr2080t6ww

Sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump, maybe a sock. Remove the front panel by sticking a small screwdriver or putty knife just above the front panel to release 2 clips. Drain pump is located bottom right with 2 hoses connected to it. Drain the machine and remove the hoses. Check for obstructions.
