The drain hose might be too low. Make sure the drain hose is at least three feet above the floor.

If the above adjustment doesn't produce positive results, replace the control.

The drain hose must empty into a standpipe, not just to a floor drain. Water will fill only as high as the end of the hose before running out.

Won't stop filling up. Water continues to flow without stopping for cycles

Hello,

Their are 2 possibilites causing it to overflow

1) the water inlet valve that the hoses from the house plumbing attach to is sticking open, when it sticks it will stick open regardless if thier is power to the machine or not,so to determine if that is the problem, start the washer and quickly unplug it,if the water continues to fill, that valve is sticking

2) the water level switch is defective,do the same as far as starting it,if the fill stops when power disconected it's the water level switch that is in need of replacement

Good luck, i hope this helps.

Washer keeps filling w/ water, only stops when changed to spin

Your drain line is too low.
OR the drain line is restricting air where it enters the drain stand pipe.
Remove the drain line and hold it up high.
Turn the washer on to fill. It should fill then stop.
This example should explain what you must do to correct the drain line problem.

Bucket continues to fill with water and does not stop.

As earlier described, regardless of the load size selected, the bucket continues to fill up with water to the point where it overflows into the machine frame and subsequently onto the floor. The main suspect was therefore the load selector switch, so I unplugged the machine, removed the screws holding the control panel in place, and checked behind the load selector switch to see if any wires had come loose. I noticed that all the wires were in place but a plastic tube had become dislodged from a nipple attached to the switch. Assuming this to be some sort of a vacuum tube that was used to shut off the water when it reached the appropriate level, I re-attached it and tried the machine again. Eureka, it worked.

Maytag Washer PAVT-1 continues filling with water to overflowing

Does it still do this with power to the machine off? If so it is your water fill valve. Because no power is getting to the valve it has to shut off unless some foreign particles are holding it open. Remove and replace the water fill valve if still runs water after power is off.

Here are some things on how the selector switches work: If it stops when you remove power look at these possibilities.

Water fill switches usually have an air tube that as the water level comes up the air pressure increases and causes the switch to go from fill to wash.
I have seen rodents chew holes in the air tubing and this could be the cause or you may have a bad switch.
Some times the switches also get out of calibration and need readjusting (especially if you have moved in altitude like up a mountain or into a valley).
If this helps you please rate me as high as possible.
If it doesnt help you please rediscribe your problem in more detail to help me understand, post back and I will follow up.
