I have a Vizio 22" tv, and my grandson, who lives in the same house, has a Vizio 32" tv. He can hear his tv fine at a volume setting of about 25-30. Mine has to be set at 80 or higher to hear the same tv programs. If I try and play a DVD (on his PS2 that I'm using as a player for DVDs), I have it turned up to 100 and still can't hear the dialog. Have taken the same movie out and put it into his PS3 (what he uses as his DVD player) and the sound can be turned back down to about 30....?
If it's just playing DVD's that the volume is low some DVD players have their own volume control.
You could look at the back of your tv and see if the dvd or psp is hooked up to a "line in" or a 'variable' input. The Line in is a constant audio source. The variable will be also affected by the volume on the TV.
