Ed25rfxfw01 whirlpool fridge water dispenser ...I have a slow drip from the dispenser hose. I assume I need a new water inlet valve. How do I access the inlet valve for replacing?

Perhaps some air bubbles were trapped in the water line during the repair. Try running water thru the line for a good amount of time and that may help to relieve the line of any air bubbles.

This sounds like a sticking solenoid valve. When you depress the lever for you water dispenser it activates a valve, usually at the bottom back of the fridge. It might look something like this:

Sometimes they just burn out and stop working or the seal inside fails sometimes from particulates in the water. Some people put a pre-filter on the water hose that attaches to the fridge just in case. If you have a water filter inside your fridge this does not protect the solenoid. They are next to impossible to repair so a replacement is needed. Just go to Amazon or eReplacement parts and search for your fridge model number with the search terms "water dispenser solenoid". If you are mechanically inclined you can replace yourself or get an appliance tech to do it. It's a 15 minute job.

Thanks for the model number. The water control valve=> W10245167 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced when this happens. Problem allows water to leak slowly into the ice maker and fill tube can become solid very quickly, or very messy ice formations coming down from ice maker, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

Sounds like the water valve for the water dispenser is not opening..You can search the internet for you model number and order a new valve online..I just order a duel water valve for my whirlpool and it was 80 dollars..Got it from www.partselect.com Hope this helps

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn't take much to eventually block the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

You can thaw out the fill tube and replace the inlet valves.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.


The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
