Picture lost sound lost as if tv was shut off but power light stayed on. cannot shut off tv without unplugging at power source. vizio 47" lcd I have a Vizio 47" HDTV model number GV47L FHDTV10A. I have no picture or sound, but i do have power, the vizio light comes on with i turn the tv on, but i can only shut it off if i unplug it.
I had this exact problem on my Vizio 47" HDTV. I removed the speakers and all the screws on the back cover. Took the cover off and located the fuses on the largest circuit board. The are in the upper right hand corner of the board. There are 3 of them in a row labeled LF 1.5, LF 3.0 and LF 3.0. The are white in color with copper ends. I took a volt meter and measured continuity across all fuses individually and found the LF 1.5 to be blown. The guy at the electronics store sold me a barrel 1.5A fuse and told me to soldier it across the top of the blown fuse. It took an extra set of hands but the TV works perfectly.
My Vizio had the exact same symptoms, so I applied the very same fix. I bought a standard fuse holder and fuse from Radio Shack and soldered wires to the blown fuse. Now if it ever blows again, I just pop in a new fuse.
Same problem, bought 4 micro fuses from Radio shack ($2.00 for 4 fuses) soldered the new fuse over the bad one, tested and the TV was alive and well, total cost for the repair $0.50 cents!!! and about 2 hours labor taking the TV down, removing the screws soldering the fuse and then replacing the screws and remounting the TV again, thanks for the information to do this simple fix!!!!
Incredible! This fix worked! I'm a 57 yr old woman with interest in electronics, but I had to learn how to use a multimeter and I had never soldered anything before in my life! I spent hours on YouTube learning to do these 2 things. The fix itself took less than an hour. Using multimeter, I found the bad fuse (teeny tiny white one 1.5A, upper right-hand corner of the main motherboard). Most time expended was looking for the fuse at RadioShacks, Frye's Electronics etc. Didn't find the tiny fuse (I don't think you can find it in any store). But I did the by-pass fix (thanks sgtwicki and grash2!!!). Got a fuse holder and regular barrel fast-acting 1.5A fuse (glass w/silver cap ends, about 1.4" long). Soldered each end of holder wire to fuse ends. Like doing surgery!! Get a "Helping Hands" tool -- very crucial to your success. Get pliers to flatten wire ends. Buy the smallest 60/40 solder wire. Don't use the bigger standard wire cuz beads will be too big and will cause short circuit somewhere. Find the bad fuse and do this fix! It works!

This is an outstanding repair suggestion. I had the same symptoms and just completed soldering in a fuse as suggested (actually I attached hookup wires to the blown fuse on the board and connected in a fuse holder so that if it blows again the replacement will be simpler). 1.5 hrs labor and a few spare parts around the house and my TV works like new. Thanks for posting.
I see a couple sizes for the fuses. Did you use the 5x20mm or the 3.6x10mm fuses? the 5x20 have fuse holders which would be easier to solder on.
If you are familiar with the old glass car fuses that is what they look like but are white( I believe ceramic) with silver caps on each end and soldered/hard wired directly to the board. You cannot remove them without patience and a soldering iron. You can, with an ohm meter go across (touch leads of ohmmeter) to each end of the fuse to see if you see a short. Depending on how accurate your meter is, it should read 0 ohms or show some type of continuity/connection between the two leads of your meter. Hope this helps?

I have the same problem but the boards are not the same it is a vizio 42" M421VT does anyone have any ideas for this model it sounds like the same issues just a different board with different circuits... PS the motherboard was replaced by a tech and within a week the same problem continued I think it is a over heating or possibly a capacitor issue but there are no signs any ideas???
