Not so many reasons she won't start. 4-Strokes are Simple!

Here they are:

Motor:
Fuel Tank-> Fuel Line-> Fuel Filter-> Carb-> Intake (Valve)-> Piston-> Exhaust (Valve)-> Muffler

Carb (Old Style):
Fuel Side:
Fuel Bowl-> Float-> Needle Seat-> Fuel Ports (Venturi)
Air Side:
Air Filter-> Carb Air Intake-> Butterflies (2)
(Clean 'em ALL!)

Hardware (Motor):
Rotor (Magnets)-> Magneto (Ignition Coil)-> Spark Plug Wire-> Spark Plug-> Cylinder Head (Spark Plug Ground)

Ignition:
Kill Switches (Seat, Clutch, etc.)-> Spark Plug/Ignition Coil-> Ground
Key Ignition-> Battery->Starter/Generator

If one of those fail.......= Non-Starting 4-Stroke!

Fixes-
Fuel:
You are either getting too much, or too little. Too much = Carb.
Too little = Carb. Therefore, tear down the Carb (COMPLETELY-Careful!) and clean it up.

Electrical:
Grounding out the System (Kill Switches)
Battery-> Ignition-> Starter.
Magneto->Plug Wire->Plug (Check 'em all!)

I would put in a new spark plug, most non start problems are solved with fresh fuel and a new spark plug.

Why wont my sabre 17.5 h cv491s lawn mower start

bad plug (replace plug), bad gas (empty gas, remix to mfg specs, refill tank), improper oil to gas ratio (see bad gas), old gas, choke in off position, corrosion between plug & plug wire (under spark plug boot (pour freshly opened coca-cola on corosion then rinse with distilled water repeat if needed)) clogged air filter (clean filter or replace). if you have visually inspected & or tried all suggusted here & still no joy, take it back to store if it is new, or take to repair shop for maintance.

Hi I did a tune up ,changed and checked every thing I done ..too I changed the oil ,oil filter ,gas filter air filter ,got a new battery changed the plugs there new too...even a new belt new key ...but...

Spark and gas??? Must have both. Pull spark plug wire and check for spark. If you have spark, check gap on spark plug. Check the bowl on carburetor. loosen bowl screw to see if gas is coming out. If you have gas coming out, carb needs to be taken off and cleaned or rebuilt.

Toro ride on wont start

Battery required? Charge battery or replace. Replace air filter and spark plug. Dump out old oil and replace with 30w oil. Electric start may have a fuse blown. Dump out old gas fill with new with Stabile always added to gas. Try spraying starter spray in carb at air cleaner with filter removed. All mowers have a low oil sensor to prevent starting on low oil. Remove bowl from carb, should be full of gas. Pinch off fuel line with pliers or turn fuel valve off. Check float should be hanging down allowing fuel flow. Float up stops fuel flow.

Wont stay running

You might have water or dirt in your carb. Sometimes its the fuel can that is the problem. Your mower is new...but your gas can is old!

The first thing I would suggest doing is find the carb and remove the bowl located underneath it. Unplug spark plug for safety too!

Let a little fuel leak out of the carb with the bowl off to clean the fuel line coming into the carb. It may just a have a little dirt or rust blocking it. You can raise and lower the float on the carb to see if it moves freely and fuel stops and starts like it should, raising the float should stop flow an letting it hang down should start the flow.

If fuel flows freely then put the bowl back on, wipe up any spilled or pooled gas, and reconnect the spark plug. See if this clears things up.

If draining the carb bowl works you should go back and inspect the gas can and your mowers fuel tank for contamination. Chances are you have a layer of water down in the fuel tank and gas can. Empty the mowers gas back into the gas can and dispose of this fuel at a gas station that recycles waste fuel and oil. I would also suggest buying a nice new gas can if you old one is rusty, cracked or missing the proper vent caps that keep gas from getting all loaded up with moisture and dirt.

Good luck and be careful!

The lawn mower wont start

how long has it sat and not run,try removing the spark plug or better yet replace the plug with a new plug,before you screw in the new plug pour in some gas directly on the piston,replace the plug and try starting now,if not and it sat outside you may need to dry it off in a warm area as moisture may be shorting out the internal components and killing the spark to the plug

Lawnmower wont start

Are you getting spark first of all. If you are getting spark do you have good gas? If you have good gas most likely your carb needs some attention maybe you had some old gas sitting in there and something inside is gummed up it might need cleaning.
