If your screen is not having a crack on it then there is a possibility that it can work again.

But if it has a crack then you need to buy a new screen.

Sorry but your LCD needs replacement. Take it to the apple store and see if they'll give you a replacement. If they don't, there is a iPhone Repair Service that can fix it for you. There are also free iPhone Repair guide that show you how to fix it yourself.

It sounds like you have some internal screen damage, your LCD may be damaged or your digitizer. A professional will need to take your phone apart and determine the cause.

You have broken the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) the touch screen digitizer and front glass is a seperate unit so that is why it still works. The LCD is the visual part and can be purchased online and fitted yourself if you feel up to it and is not that expensive, Videos of how to do it also on youtube. Or you can take it to a mobile repair centre to get them to do it for you.

There might be a Flex cable that disconnected in the phone, you will need to bring it to a cell phone shop or apple to have a look at it.
