I have a Er CO showing on front screen

The control is not seeing a feedback signal from the ice room fan. (the fan inside the freezer which pushes cold air up to the in door icemaker) It is probably blocked with a build up of ice or frost, preventing the fan blade from turning.

the ER CO is the error code for a communication error between the main control board and the rest of the system. You can try unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes,then plug it back in,watch the control panel for any codes before opening doors,or actuating the dispenser. Also,how old is this refrigerator, and is there a yellow smiley face sticker on the main control board cover located on the back of the refrigerator ? I know that sounds like a silly question, but there was an update on some models,and the smiley face sticker indicates that the main board was updated. If the wrong main control board was mistakenly installed,it will give the ER CO error code, the unit goes into a default mode,and the control panel will not react. Let me know what you see, and the results of unplugging unit for a few minutes.
The board won't always show a bad spot on top. You can unplug the refrigerator, pull the board up, and look at the underside for bad spots on the board. Parts can be seen and purchased at LG partstore.com. The connectors on the board will only go on in the proper location,so you can take all loose without fear of not knowing where they are supposed to go back.

The LG refrigerator may display a Communications Error message ("Er CO") in the event of a short or other malfunction associated with communication between the main circuit board and the display. While attempting a system reset is an option, customer service will most likely need to be contacted in order to provide a permanent solution.
