Laptop screen fading in streaks

Hello! I've been using my Compaq Presario (M2223AP) Laptop for 2 years now, then all of a sudden I saw 2 vertical lines on the screen. 1 line is a clear red line (but not so thick & dark) located about 1/3 from the left of the screen while the other is a very faint (thin, almost transparent) line located about 1/5 from the right of the screen. I think it might be a monitor problem. I'm not very good in fixing computers so I have not done anything about it yet. I'd appreciate your help very much. Thanks! I have a Presario M2000 laptop. A few months ago we started seeing a fading of the screen. It started on one side, the color was faded in a 3-inch wide section from the top to bottom of the screen. Later, a larger streak appeared on the opposite side of the screen. Today after a reboot, there is a 3-inch wide section of the screen that is faded to the point that you cannot read text that appears on that part of the screen. Can someone help? Thanks,

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor?
This would ensure that it's the screen and not the video card..
If you do that and you receive a good picture then it could be something as simple as a loose video cable. Or it could also mean something like a bad video card or the expensive one, a bad screen.

if this line is there during boot up then it is a monitor problem usually. but if it is not then it is a problem with your windows files. you could try reinstalling your windows from the disks you were given with it? otherwise i will look into it. email me if you need more help. [email protected]

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

My understanding is that you have 2 laptops with the same problem, if that is the case, you need to replace the lcd. When you have lines on lcd's, that is a sign of a bad lcd.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

There can be 3 possible reasons for this
1)Screen connector cable is loose. You can try to re-seat it and see if works.
2)display card problem. Connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the problem persists. If it does not then
3)You will need to get a replacement LCD screen.
Hope this helps!

you could try and download a new display driver from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=mx&lc=en&dlc=es&product=499234 if that dosent help Id imagine it is the screen that is at fault.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Although it could be a screen problem, it is more likely either a loose connection on the inside of the LCD or the video inverter itself which is a board that the LCD attaches to before going to the motherboard. Try hooking it up to an external monitor and if it doesn't do it on that, then we know its not the video card / video output. After that it would be what I spoke of above.
