A convection microwave is a combination of a standard microwave oven and a convection oven. It allows food cooked in the convection microwave to be cooked quickly, yet come out browned or crisped as in a convection oven. However, most cakes cannot be baked in a microwave oven - only those without an open grain structure, such as brownies. There are microwaves which contain electric browning baking elements. A true convection microwave has a high velocity forced air fan to circulate the hot air uniformly.
The control panel is actually 2 different parts and either could be bad. Do you have the display still lighting up or is it completely dead? If it is out it could the main smart board. If it still lights but no buttons work then it could still be the smart board or just the key pads which are a separate part. Neither part can be fixed just replaced.
I would say the convection fan blade is loose on the shaft.
If this is the case, it would try to run, but no cooling would take place, so the heat from the heating element would get very high but it would not be distributed through the oven.
The thermistor would then detect the extra high heat and stop it, I assume.
You may be able to use super glue or JB Weld to fix the blade on the shaft, as long as they are clean and dry and it is allowed to set overnight.
You can find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full
model number here.
There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
Accessing these components
for testing and possible
replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.
If
so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have
two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.
