Hi. The most common cause for this is the color wheel. Replacing it requires removal of the engine/optical block. I'm not sure of your level of expertise but if you want to give it a try go to this website: http://www.jangro.com/electronics/samsung-dlp-replace-color-wheel/ It'll give you some idea of what you're up against. It is similar to what you'll have to do but I don't think your chassis is exactly the same as this one so some things will look different inside.

IF you are hearing a fan like noise it most likely is the color wheel that this model uses--set was first made in 2004


This model uses two different color wheels--depends on version number you will find on right side of set on a label with the model number.

The color wheel is just what it sounds like--a round plastic wheel with different colored segments that spins at about 12,000 + rpm---a lot of them fail after a few years---usually a fan like noise or grinding noise and sometimes the wheel will shatter and the set will shut down.

Once you ID the version number of your set there are sites on the internet that have video instructions for its replacement--takes less than 1 hour to do this.

If you cannot do it you will pay a fair amount as most shops like to get as much as they can for this easy repair.

Looking from the rear of the set, the color wheel is just to the left of the lamp, underneat an aluminum heat sink. You have to remove 7 screws to get to it.

yes u need to take the optical block out is hold by screw umplug the hdvi cable and 2 small cable caming from the anolog board , now take the top black cover wicht is protecting the color wheel now remove the only 2 screw for the color wheel , becare full when remove the 2 smaller cable for the color wheel and when put it in the color wheel back in place

look on the side of the unit there will be a sticker with Model number, serial number and Version code. The version code will tell me what color wheel you need. There maybe some CCA adjustment you need to do using the remote in Service mode. Let me know what the version number. We will go from there. the color wheel wil need to be replaced soon if it is doing that. it could be then DMD board as will.

Hi...No need for a different jumper or different color wheel. It's an easy fix. Make sure your TV is turned off and remove the jumper with a pair of needle nose pliers. Just keep it in case you may need it in the future. I will post a picture to show you where the jumper is located.

You have a defective color wheel. Its not easy to change. You must be familiar with the Lite engine. This TV carries 2 types of Color wheel. Look at the side of the TV for your version number to see which one it uses.
(1) Part number BP96-00674A COLOR WHEEL (FOR TYPE L3 VERSION PW03 UNITS)
(2) Part number BP96-01103A COLOR WHEEL FOR TYPE L6 VERSION PU01 UNITS
