LG 42PX3DCV Fuzzy Pic for 30mins or so then it resets to like new
I have and LG 42PX3DCV or -UC but it has been doing this for about a year. The screen has a clear picture then it will get fuzzy(static like) for about 30 to 40 mins then its like the tv resets and the screens picture is as good as new. then it will cycle back and do it all over again. I dont think it is getting worse just annoying. I've contacted a repair guy because my warranty is up and he said it sounds like a video chip on the back that is going bad but in order to fix it the chip is part of a pair and they are serially linked together. Would that fix it? Or is there something else behind this problem? If you can advice on how to repair I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.
You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed. This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot! Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage. Hope this helpout in solving the problem....
Go into the tv menu.Tries all setting resetting to factory setting, best result. No high backlight setting will not shorteen LCD screen panel life.It design for life span of 6 to 8 hours of tv viewing in 7-8 years at least. The store probally have high end HD satalite signal.U just have basic cable signal only,am i wright?
This is called image retention where the screen is not dissapating the last picture information quickly enough. This can be cured either by adjusting the settings on the Y-Sustain board or a software upgrade can fix the problem. Either way I suggest you contact an LG dealer to arrange an engineer to do this.

I
know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described
can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired.
There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If
you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you.
The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of
purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service
plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.
If
the TV is no longer in warranty, the repair will likely cost a minimum of $300,
parts and labor. If the problem is more than one of the video circuit boards, the price of
repair could go much higher.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information
allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.

Hey listen.
Not too long ago I posted looking for help.
I run a club -the facility side of it- and 3 of our 42px3dcv Lg's went bad in a 1 year period.
I saved these hoping to find parts or cheap fixes one day, and it's paid off.
I found Donberg Electronics -out of Ireland- and they had the parts for a really cheap price.
You are probably not going to believe the price when you inquire.
Veronika and Annette at Donberg are very nice and helpful.
Going back to the problem, yes I am affraid you need to replace y sus, z sus and ctrl board.
For that there is a repair kit you can buy where I just told you. If you are going to do it yourself it's relatively hard, as you have to memorize how the parts were originally installed, exactly.
I would recommend having a buddy film the whole thing, seriously.
You also have to maneuver a lot, between the cables and be extremely careful with wire connectors.
Once you have completed the swap -all 3 boards- then you can plug back the TV and you will have your LG plasma back at work!
I am not a technician but I have to tell you I run 3 different health clubs and have done everything from scrubbing showers to paint walls to install computer software and hardware -obviously tv repairs as well-
So yeah, it isn't easy but it's worth trying.
DO NOT MESS WITH ANYTHING IN THE BOARDS!! I MEAN IT!!
Good luck and post a note if you think this was helpful. I am certain it is though. LOL. I've done it 3 times.
