If you keep losing high end drivers it is because you are using an amplifier that does not put out enough power (thus clipping the signal and creating a very large amount of high frequency harmonics that overpower the drivers), or too much power for them, or you are adjusting equalization from behind them so that they sound good to you, in which case you are again overloading them. Highs are very directional so to adjust them properly you have to listen from in front of them. Another possibility is that they simply cannot handle the power you need to fill the listening area adequately.
