Washer stopped. F6 code, didn't drain.

This might be a silly question, but when we cleaned the drain line, we found a plastic ball about 2-3 inches in diameter. Is that suppose to be there?

SOURCE: Kenmore HE4t Won't continue drain cycle Code F6 & beeping

Take off the bottom panel (unplug unit first!) and unscrew the cap on the drain cylinder, be sure to have plenty of towels to soak up the water! pull out the center piece and check out all the treasures stored inside. Be sure to use a flashlight and lift up the black hose behind it to get any leftovers in the hose. I just did it today and could not believe how much stuff was in there...coins. pens, buttons, lost of wet lint had it clogged. The clothes finally don't smell!

SOURCE: Our front loading washer flashesF02

"F02" is a Long Drain error. This is usually an indication of an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system, or a failed drain pump. In most cases, the drain pump reservoir just needs to be cleaned out. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574284-checking_the_drain_pump_on_a_front_loade

If you check the drain pump reservoir and the problem still persists, you may have a pump with a damaged motor/impeller, or something lodged in one of the drain lines. In particular, the drain line that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump.

I recommend you remove the inlet hose, as well, and inspect for clogs. In is common for small garments to become lodged in this area and restrict water flow to the drain pump. Check the output drain line for obstructions as well.

It does not take much to damage these small drain pumps. The error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes. So...if the impeller or motor become damaged, and the pump does not pull water at the correct volume, you may still experience the drain error. Since you found screws in the pump, you may have damaged the small impeller and/or the motor. If this is the case, you will have to replace the pump in order to get the error to clear. The following link explains how:

Replacements parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

NOTE: For a full explanation of all the error codes, each one of these appliances come with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front fett of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it to troubleshoot this error code.

Read through the information provided and let me know if you have any further questions. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: "SUD" is a suds error detect that can commonly occur in conjunction with the "F02" error. This is a result of too much air being detected in the drainage system. In most cases, correcting the drainage problem will correct BOTH error codes.

SOURCE: F02 Error Code on Kenmore

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your information posted I understand you have the Kenmore HE3t washer, correct ?

Reading your description and factoring in all you've done and inspected, it may in fact be a faulty pump...(the F02 ultimate worse case) even if it is draining slowly it does not rule it out, trust me I've seen many of them.

By reading your post I've gathered you are pretty thorough so I don't expect you missed it, but I must mention it or I wouldn't be thorough either, I think you can appreciate that, have you checked the back-flow/check ball ?

If not, here's how...

Pull the boot off if you have not and just see if anything has got in there to obstruct the "ball" from working correctly. It is shown here...(this is from the back, but you can do it from the front...just not as easily...in my opinion)

macmarkus_939.jpg
Undo the clamp and inspect inside...if you have not already.

macmarkus_938.jpg

It's amazing how often I find this ball "stuck" or the bellows clogged with debris of all sorts of items...definately worth looking into before declaring the pump has failed. Good luck. Let me know how you make out as I said and if I can help you in any manner going forward I will do whatever I can.

I've also included a more thorough link of my repair tip below

Thank you for choosing FixYa. Please take a moment to rate the info provided here and a testimony on your experience here at FixYa today is appreciated.

Macmarkus :)

My kenmore HE2 wont drain.

Hi there I suggest that some machines have that white ball to stop water from syphoning out of the machine when on a wash cycle but your problem is either a blocked pump, (try and take the pump off as some debris will go past the filter and stop the impeller from turning hence no water being pumped out) or a kinked outlet hose which can easily happen when you push the machine back into it's place in the kitchen.
I'm not too conversant with your make of machine but in general all machines are basically the same.
If you can't hear the pump spinning then it may be something more like one of the circuit boards may have failed.

Push start and machine wont fill and draining/unlocking light sarts blinking about 2 seconds later

My machine had the exactly same problem:
1. Push Start button to wash, but Draining/Unlocking light will flash right away. The drum started to run and stopped
2. No error code shown up
3. Run Quick test: no error code
4. Run Universal Test: error code F25 (later, found nothing wrong with the CCU)
What I did:
1. Clean the bump: found coins and strings.
2. Clean the drain pipe from the pump to tub: found more coins.
3. Clean chamber of pressure switch at the tub: found nothing.
4. Clean the gap between tub and drum: found a credit card!
After the cleanings, the Draining/Unlocking light would still come back and I almost gave up. Amazingly, I ignored it and a few minutes later.... the machine started to run as normal!
It seems that CCU needs sometime to reset itself after the failure.

F02 Washer not draining. How do I unclog drain? I have already taken the hose off, so I think its stopped up somewhere else. Thanks.

"F02" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump

Problem with F21 code on whirlpool duet sport

i had the same problem. take the bottom cover off of the front of the washer. on the right you will see a round white screw off cover, it is very tight, it unscrews counter clock-wise. pull this out and see if there is any debris in it. if you look into the hole on the right side there is a hole about 1 inch round, this is the pump opening. you may have to take the gray drain hose off of the back of the pump housing and feel if anything is stuck in there, in my case there was a penny stuck side ways blocking the flow of water. after i took it out the washer has been running great again. this is obviously a design flaw, that something that large could manage to get that far, lucky for me it didn't damage the pump impeller. hope this helps. this should take care of the SD and the F21 error codes.

My lg washer will not go into spin cycle.

I had the same problem. I found a water leak on the water valves at the back on the unit. This leak dripped on a wire that lead back to the ball sensor. The water was causing the computer to interpret a "unbalanced error". I suggest that the valves have a design defect that caused them to start leaking. After I discovered that my local appliance parts stores is NOT allowed to carry LG parts. I was very upset. I removed the ALL of the valves, cleaned them and applied a thin coating of silicon around the plastic solenoid shell, reassembled and I have no more leaks. I also cleaned the "ball" sensor to get rid on any moisture. Afterwards my wife was able to do 8 loads and me twice.

Kenmore dish washer wont drain

Those are Chinese massage balls. You place them in your palm and rub them together and the result is a "calming" effect, which are ingeniously placed their by the courteous engineers at Kenmore to help you relax while you perform the self-repair. Just kidding. I had the same problem and learned that they are called "float balls". There should a small hole where the water comes up and drains - they are placed in that hole.

My lg intellowasher wd1290 error code OE

I think your "OE" is really a "DE" or drain error. Open the access door on the lower left of the front panel on the machine, drain the remaining water with the small drain hose there, and unscrew and remove the larger thing, which is a filter. Clean filter. If filter was not blocked, check for loose impeller on drain pump motor, which requires replacement of drain pump motor. (just sticking it back on will result in it coming off again)
If this helps, a "fixya" rating would be appreciated. Thanks.
