I have a Sharp LC-32sb24u. The hdmi input is not working. I have tried to connect the hdmi cable to both Input 4 and Input 5. I get a black screen each time. I have unplugged the tv and unplugged the Optimum Cable box. I have used different hdmi cables. Reset tv to factory settings. Nothing works. The tv does not recognize the hdmi cables. I can set up the DVD player using a/v cables and it works fine. How do I fix the hdmi situation?
You have to tell the TV which HDMI input to use. ie you should be able to press a button on your remote to do this. On my tv we can choose between 4 different HDMI inputs via the remote.

If your DVD player has a composite or S Video output, you can use them instead of using an HDMI cable. However, you need to connect the audio portion as well - RCA left and right, white and red, respectively to the set.

if you haven't unplugged the unit for 30 seconds, try that. otherwise, if that doesn't help, probably a board needs to be replaced. call phillips for service.
