Not fixed but I do not want to spend MORE money to find out what's wrong with this AMANA piece of ****. Apparently, from research on the net, the compressor or motor is not strong enough in this unit to actually do the job...but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm happy to hear them...

What setting do I use to make the freezer freeze food

When you are freezing something, set your freezer on its highest setting. However, if you are going to leave your freezer empty for a long time, you should change the setting to a lower one. Here's a great tip for ice cream: place a tub of ice cream in a ziplock bag before putting it in the freezer; it prevents freezer burn. You know when your ice cream gets so cold, it's hard to scoop out? Doing this stops that, it's keeps the ice cream just soft enough for easy scooping!

My norfrost freezer c105e runs constantly

first thing to check and clean is the condenser coils and make sure they are clean and have good airflow.
Secondly, if your freezer is in a hot area (like a garage), it will probably run for very long cycle to overcome the heat load'Third, check the food temperature by the following indicators (only true for a deep Freeze):
Ice Cream - Solid as a rock
Meats Same as Ice cream
Bread - Firm and hard
If temperature is good and you insure good air circulation around the condenser coils, do not worry about the running time.

What was freeze dried ice cream first created for?

Freeze dried ice cream or astronaut ice cream was created for Apollo missions on space. Unlike regular ice cream, this type of ice cream can be kept in room temperature, therefore having no problem lasting in space.

My freezer does not keep my ice cream hard, yet it freezes meats, etc. without a problem. What is wrong?

You don't note whether or not you've adjusted the thermostat. Ice cream (and juices) requires at least zero degrees, if not minus 5 degrees, for storage. Meats, fish, bread, etc. can become rock hard at much higher temperatures. Try setting the thermostat lower.

The ice cream is granular in texture-

Hello!
I actually own the same ice cream maker, and it has made some very good ice cream for me. The most likely causes of grainy ice cream are too short of a time in the machine or recipes with incorrect proportions of water, fat, and sugar.
Firstly, make sure that you are using one of the recipes provided in the maker's user manual, or a different recipe from another source which says that it works with all ice cream makers. Following these recipes will ensure that your ice cream base (the liquid that you pour into the machine) is the correct consistency and composition for freezing. For example, too much sugar could cause improper freezing by oversaturating the solution, or too much fat (or fat incorporated incorrectly) could cause the mixture to become grainy or separate.
If you are using a recipe that calls for eggs, make sure that you mix them with the listed amount of sugar thoroughly before tempering them with the hot cream/milk solution. Additionally, make sure that you only pour a little bit (quarter - half cup) of the solution into the egg mixture at first, stirring thoroughly, before adding the rest. This assures that the eggs do not curdle when heated, which could cause a grainy texture.

Finally, make sure that you are freezing the mixer bowl overnight, using chilled ingredients, and allowing the machine to run for the full 20-25 minutes. The ice cream should be a bit softer than the consistency of soft-serve when you take it out of the machine - easily scoopable with a spatula. If you like it firmer, an 8 to 48 hour freezer session will greatly improve the texture in my opinion.

Hope this helps!

Freezer not freezing

not freezing icedraem is an issue, bread not so much, different breads contain different ingrediants that may or may not freeze, forst offthough wher is unit located??? in garage??? if so be aware that it may not operate efficiently ion ambient temps lower then 55 degrees, but if this is in your kitchen i would suspect a "refrigeration"/sealed system issue, perhaps "low on charge and not able to maintain a frozen set temp. Meat may stay frozen ( for a little while anyway, but the ice cream is the first to show indications of problem

We have a Whirlpool gb22dk refrigerator freezer. The bottom freezer keeps meat frozen but will not keep sea food ice cream bread ect frozen. This fridge came with our house which we purchased 2 years ago...

1st.Check the freezer door gasket for any place it maybe torn or not making a 100% seal when you close the door. That would make temperature drop. 2nd.take off bottom kick plate so you can look under the refrigerator.Using a flashlight make sure there is not alot of lint / dust stuck on the coils .If there is remove it carefully and you will see temperature lower. PLEAS RATE THIS!
