Will not complete wash or any other cycle displaying "d o" assuming "door open" then "FL"???so wont operate... yet has been locked with wet load for two days now! tried on/off and even unplugging hoping would reset still no luck. Please Help! Thank You!
The comment posted 14 may 2009 it what helped me. DO NOT PRY OPEN the door. Find the release cord inside the soap dispenser,,,you may have to remove the 4 screws and lift it from the washer like i did. I had to lean into the door and pull the cord to release the lock. It was not a system error. The washer was over loaded and although the door was closed and locked...the load pushed the door enough to indicate that it was open and would not wash. After opening the door, rearranging the load and removing some, the door closed and latched locked and was able to continue with the wash. DO NOT PRY OPEN,,,use the cord release first,,,this worked for me.
Thank goodness for this solution. I too overfilled my machine. I pulled the plug on the machine. I removed the four screws and found the thin green release cord at the front of the soap dispenser and pulled it. The door popped open. Put the machine back together and plugged it in. I removed some clothes and started the washer back up again. I hope it works. Thanks for saving me a repair call.
There are no four screws only one that is visible. Machine is about 4 years old. The other screws that hold the panel in are not visible.

Many problems with this on these washers! You will actually have to pry door open. Possibly change door switch. It is actually a system error.
After door is pried open. Leave washer unplugged for 4-8 hours so that it may reset itself.
The early machines developed problems with the control board that caused the door not to lock. Your problem sounds different however, more like a problem with the door lock itself. This problem unfortunately will not clear itself. I recommend that you contact a Maytag servicer before all your laundry is dirty and/or ruined. Or you might contact Maytag (consult the documentation that came with the machine) they have been known to provide help in some cases.

Did NOT need to pry open. Did find release cord inside soap dispenser to unlock machine still displaying "o d" (Open Door) when closed tightly . Will try to leave unplugged overnight hoping will reset. Thanks!!!
