You said you 'tried to do a reset'. How did you do that, did you disconnect the battery? How long for? Was the key in the ignition when you reconnected?

Most of your issues are due to the anti-theft system being activated, so I will put my link to fixing that at the bottom.

Regarding the transmission slipping and overheating, it sounds like you are low on transmission fluid. This would cause slipping and overheating.

Normally you can push the menu button on the monitor to look at menu options. If there is no input it will normally show that on the screen initially and they go into sleep mode.

Your monitor should turn on without a source and display the floating 'Dell - self-test Feature Check' message. If it does not, verify the power LED is on "GREEN" and indicating either power on / diagnostics mode or "Amber" power saving mode. If neither indication you have power problems. If these symptoms do not apply, shine a light on the sceen and see if there is a faint image. If this is true, you have backlight problems.

The max resolution for this monior is 1024 x 768 @60Hz. You will get the error message if the video resolution is too high to display.

unless the monitors are being turned on and off frequently the sleep mode idea is alot more efficient

Rear View Camera Input: The VM9313 features a composite video input and a green/white wire lead attached to the harness for connection of a rear view camera. If a rear-view video camera is connected, the unit is on, and the TFT monitor is retracted inside the unit, the TFT monitor automatically moves into the viewing position and Camera modes is selected upon shifting into Reverse gear. When shifting into Drive gear, the TFT monitor is retracted back inside the unit. If the monitor is already in a viewing position and in display mode, the monitor automatically switches to Camera mode upon shifting into Reverse. When the reverse driving stops, the monitor returns to its original input display mode. You can choose for the monitor to display a Mirror mode image or a Normal mode image from the rear-view camera.

There is a small switch on the right side where all the audio/video ports are. If that switch is forward in the "video-out" mode, the onboard (TFT) screen is shut off. Move the switch back to "TFT" mode. Hope this helps.
