Hi. I have a 19.5 HP Sears Lawn Tractor, model # 917.270821. The problem I'm having is with the steering in that it has become increasingly more difficult to steer. I greased the two fittings with a tube of grease but did not see grease exit from the top of the spindle. Should it have? Any suggestions as to how I can remedy my problem? Thanks. Tony

There is more to grease than spindles, there is the steering assembly, located at the bottom of the steering shaft. This is where the steering gear matches up with the steering assembly, located under the tractor. It is hard to reach, unless you jack up the tractor. I find it easier,by jacking the tractor, just high enough to be able to grease the gears. Be careful any time, your under the tractor on a jack. It takes a fair amount of grease for these spindles and yes, grease does come out the top or the bottom of the spindle. Hope this information, answers your question. Sincerely,Brad Locke
