My dryer is getting hot and seems to be working, but the clothes are not getting dry. Also, there is no lint in the lint trap at the end of a cycle.
I am not over-loading it. This is a problem on any cycle and with any load size. The dryer is less than 6 months old and was working just fine.
If the dryer is getting hot (If you open the door in mid cycle and feel heat) there's a good chance the dryer vent hose is clogged up. Check outside and make sure the vent door is not blocked or if you can see anything in the hose. If okay, move your dryer out from the wall (unplug it first) and take it loose from the dryer as well as the outside vent. You will be able to tell if it is clogged. If it isn't, look up inside the dryer vent as it comes from the heater. It seems as though something must be clogging it.
Go out to where the vent goes outdoors and feel if any air is blowing out of there with the dryer running. If you dont feel any air then probably your vent is blocked. You will need to clean it or fix the vent pipe if it is crushed.

It may not be your heating element. Your dryer lint vent pipe out the back of the machine or maybe out the
side may be plugged. You have to pull the machine out and clear
that pipe or rebuild it out to a soffit vent or static vent if it is in
the attic, or out through your crawl space. This will make a huge
difference. If that hot air and moisture doesn't get out of the
machine it just goes back into your clothes.

Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance. Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum.
