U-Line co29ff, brand new unit. Makes clear, hollow, watery ice.

Makes hollow clear ice. Creates water in ice bin which causes thick layer of ice in bottom of ice bin. Dealer has worked on the problem with a new U-Line service bulletin about this problem. Water supply is RO system water, but this caused no problem with the previous U-Line connected to it, nor does it cause a problem with a SubZero refrigerator connected to the water supply.
Thanks for your help.

2 things you need to check. If you remove the icebucket look for armaflex the goes on the sensor tube from the icemaker to the back wall. If missing call U-line to get the correct one. The second thing you can do is check the icemaker control. Remove the grill, on the base in the right corner you will see a control with a screw. Turn the screw all the way to the right then back it so it will be straight up and down. That will set it cooler

Frigidaire side by side with ice maker .. ice maker jams and quits making ice

Hi,
Hollow ice cubes are a result of lack of water to ice maker. This can be caused by lack of water pressure (clogged filter, bad water valve, obstructed fill tube, etc..) you will need to find the cause to correct this hollow ice cube issue. The ice maker should take on 5.5 oz of water when it cycles (2/3 cup). Mot of the time its a water supply issue and the line could be kinked behind the unit as it was rolled back into place.

Good Luck

Uline bi98 ice maker

follow this test. and fix it. use the multimeter.God bless you

If the ice cubes have watery or hollow centers, the icemaker is getting too little water. Alternately, excess water or ice in the bin is caused by too much water. Turn the water supply screw to adjust. If adjustment does not remedy the problem, you may need to service the water inlet valve (see below).
If you suspect trouble with the motor or switcy in an icemaker, use a multimeter to test the component. If the motor or switches test faulty, replace either the bad components or the entire module. If not, you may only need to replace the thermostat (see below)

The ice cube maker creates cubes that are hollow and not solid. Also, the filtered water has very little pressure and sort of dribbles out. I checked the line in and it seems clear into the back of the...

Sometimes if you go to where the water line is hooked to the house plumbing and turn the valve all the way off and then back on it will clean the opening and fix the problem.Hope this is the case with yours.Give it a try.

Icemaker makes shells. Outside is frozen but

Hollow cubes are caused by not having enough water in the ice mold. Fill it up manually by pouring water in it and see how the cubes turn out.
look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water. + is more water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

There is a screen filter before the water inlet valve in the water line. It can get partially stopped up with sediment blocking water flow.

My GE Profile refrig ice maker makes hollow ice cubes. Why would this happen?

Not enough water is being pumped into the icemaker. The water pressure in the water line coming into the refrigerator may be too low, perhaps due to a blockage somewhere.

Move the refrigerator enough to get behind it. Turn off the water at the small valve which connects the water line from the house plumbing to the tube going into the refrigerator. Get a bucket. Remove the refrigerator water line from the on-off valve (there should be a compresson nut holding it on). Point the incoming water line into the bucket and open the valve. Do you have a good flow of water? If so, either there is a blockage in the tubing within the refrigerator or the water valve at the bottom of the back of the refrigerator is malfunctioning.

Uline clr2060 produces little ice

First thing is to remove the water from the trough. Pull out the grey standpipe in the back of water trough. Then see if the grid has a good frost pattern. If the frost pattern is NOT even then you need a service call to check the sealed system. If you do have a frost pattern check to see if the water is splashing over or make sure the drain is in the bin drain hole.If water is getting in the bin then the ice can melt as fast as it makes it.Make sure your cleaning with U-line cleaner.

No Ice From Kitchen Aid

Mark, your water valve has screwed the pooch. Replace it. The part number is 2199838.

What's happening is this... the valve that fills your ice maker is by-passing a small amount of water. This water has to flow through that tube, right? When very small amounts (drop by drop) go through the IM fill tube, they flash freeze. Eventually they (the frozen drops of water) form a big block of ice inside the fill tube. This ice creates a blockage which creates back-pressure whenever the IM "calls" for water. The back pressure eventually blows the tube off of the connection behind the fridge.

You say that this happened over night... no way. If you look closely at the ice cubes that you IM has been making, you'll see that they are hollow. Hollow cubes means that your IM isn't getting enough water... (because the fill tube is blocked).

Admiral Refrigerator makes hollow ice

Hollow ice cubes are due to low water pressure to the fridge. Water thru the door should have good pressure behind it. This is a good indicator of water pressure. Should be able to fill a glass quickly. Causes for low pressure are self-piercing saddle valves on the water line (switch to drill type (1/4") valve) or reverse osmosis system or filtering system on water line to the fridge. R.O. systems should not be used. Increase water pressure and that will fix the hollow cubes. The loud noise may be the sound of the water valve on the fridge when it is acivated. This sound is normal and some are louder than others.
