Wow everyones google must be broken (i'm just joking). I found this speaker, it looks like the company is located in arizona. I also contacted cobra and left a message. I'll probably go with whatever is cheaper, it will probably be this one.

Looks like all you have to do is desolder the wires and resolder them on the new speaker then plug it in.
I actually had 2 talking radar detectors go bad (esd-9860, esd-9870) so i took them apart, 9870 had a really small zener diode come lose (probably from leaving it in the sun all these years) and the other one has a completely blown speaker (doesn't make a circuit). The good speaker tested 7.7 ohms with my digital meter.
Figured i'd help you guys out
Just called cobra and ordered the part here's the info for everyone. This should work for almost all the cobra radar detectors.

I have a cobra xrs 9930 talking radar detector and the speaker sounds like it is ripped. It is crackling and annoying, Can I get a replacement speaker?
A good place to start is Mouser Electronics: http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=home They do not have a minimum order dollar limit and have an extensive parts inventory. You will need to remove the old one and get the wattage, ohmage (4ω, 8ω, or 16ω). Then you will need the physical dimensions to make sure the replacement speaker will fit into the space provided. The replacement speaker does not have to be brand specific, but it must be the same physical size and have the same electrical characteristics. There are other places that may have the speaker, but most have order minimum dollar limits of $25 and up per order. In case you are interested: MCM In One Company, Digi-Key, Newark In One Company to mention a few I have dealt with in the past. Good luck on your quest.
