it sounds like the phone is locked to the original carrier. you can get an imei unlock code for most GSM Samsungs here: http://www.gsmunlocklabs.com/samsung-imei-unlock-code-p-245.html

Go to your service provider and ask for assistance. Or do you still have your old PUK number. After you press the sim pwd a few times the phone will be blocked.Then use you PUK number which you got when you registered your SIM or bought it and simply go from there and unblock your phone and change the passwords or security code

Maybe the card isn't compatible with the D407? Google D407 SIM card model number, or bring the card and phone to either a phone store or Radio Shack, they can check it for you.

JUST GO TO UR MOBILE SETTINGS AND SCN FOR NETWORK MANUAALY,IF YOU DONA FIND YOUR NETWORKIN THE LIST BEING SCANNED,THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE NETQORK AND IF YOUR MOBILE DOESNT LOAD ANY NETWORK PROVIDED THAT THE NETWORK IS ACCESSIBLE FROM OTHER MOBILES,THEN THE PROBLEM LIES WITH YOUR MOBILE....
IF PROBLEM WITH THE MOBILE,THEN THE BEST SOLUTION IS TO UPGRADE YOUR MOBILE SOFTWARE,WHICH ALSO INCREASES YOUR MOBILE SPEED,,,,,

SOURCE: How to unlock my samsung

There can be many ways to Unlock your phone. As far as i know unlocking by codes is the simple and safe way. I will suggest the website Unlock-Zone.com which is doing good service and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums.
I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked.

hi,

most probably you inserted your sim in the wrong way, loose sim holder or connector or no sim card present in your unit.
if there is a sim, try to get it out again and insert in the right direction.
most unit has a drawing near the sim, follow the direction on how to properly place the sim card.

First All Check:
1.Confirm whether same sim card is working in other h.s or not.
2.Make sure the sim slot is o.k. only try these two.
3.If all the above steps fails, check the SIM card connector pins for damage.
if so try to get serviced.
4.if ur sim card is good then it is problum form sim card ic u have u raplace it with SMD.
u can make it jumper mean u can fix this prob with out sim card is for this contact.
5.take sim connector slight up by pin then cheak by inserting sim.
6.hot air gun on sim i.c. then cheak it.
Last Option:
IF make sure that the sim card hasn't been damamged at all sO Please You Go to Service
& Sim Office and Get the Duplicate Sim Same Your No From Office Oprator

I do have one samsung omnia sgh-i900 purchased from vodacom south africa, my internet settings are pre-configured, it can't work with other network providers, please advise. Regards
Hi, for the phone to get internet access, Itdepends on the Sim card you insert in the phone. Each Sim cards has different network settings for each Sim cards being inserted in the phone.

If you want to get internet access for the Sim card your using,ones you insert the Sim card in the phone,Call the customer care service center of the particular Sim card you inserted, Am sure they will assist you with the internet settings on the phone.

If the display says "Insert SIM," it means that the phone has no contact with your subscription card (SIM card) that is inserted in the phone. We recommend that you remove the battery and the SIM card, and clean the connectors on the SIM card and the phone with a soft brush, cloth or Q-tip moistened with any type of unflavored colorless alcohol.
At the same time, check that the card is not damaged or worn in any way, in that case, the connector may not align with the connector in the phone. Please contact your operator / carrier for a new SIM card.

My phone is a Samsung SGH-A437 and it was working fine when I went to bed but woke up this morning and it says "insert sim" the sim card is in there and looks fine... Any suggestions?
Soft reset your phone by removing the battery and the SIM card for one minute. Insert back the SIM card again and the battery.
