1. take a small battery, a 6-Volt / 12-volt, maybe, 2. remove the starter motor 3. connect leads, positive to positive and negative to negative through a switch. 4. Close switch and see if the motor comes on.
there is a bolt under the fabric softner dispenser (if you have one) if not, its a plastic cap on the top of your agitator which pops off by hand or a butter knife.. then there is a bolt under there that holds the unit down..grap the bottom of your agitator and loosen the bolt and remove it...then lift up carefully on the whole thing..careful not to loose the seal and bolt to put the agitator back in place....good luck..
Yes, to remove the agitator part you just pull on it, it is just the pop off type. Sounds like it might be the timer also, but make sure that the belt is also the right tension
They are called "dogs" Part Number #80040 you can replace them yourself pick up the part at a local parts place.. the main cause of failure is due to overloading the unit..

The ***** part of the agitator is supposed to ratchet in the clockwise direction. this is normal. If you can spin it in either direction (turned off) then you need a set of agitator dogs.
