Power supply problem

My LCD TV turns itself on and off every few seconds. The TV is less than 2 years old. Was told by local tv repair shop that this is typical with LCD and Plasma TV's at the 2 yr mark. Was wondering if the power supply is something i can fix or replace myself? It will cost $350 to repair. TV originally cost me $650.

My 2 year old approximately 60 hrs use 26 in Sharp LC-26GA5U responds to the ON buttom, brings a few stripes to the LCD, a few seconds of sound then turns itself off. Tried everything outside the set and nothing works. Can this be solved by repacing the source board or the main board? Please help.

Toshiba 46 inch regza yellow light blinks and picture wont come on but I have full audio

Most likely the power supply board needs to be replaced. It could also be the T-con board or less likely the display itself.

If you don't know what you're doing, DON'T OPEN THE TV UP TO FIX IT, THERE ARE HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, EVEN WEEKS AFTER THE TV IS UNPLUGGED!

If you don't know how to do it yourself, find some local Electronic repair shops, get quotes, try to find reviews on the shops.

LG 42' plasma tv

Hi,
Based on the symptom it seems like you have a problem either with capacitors or mosfet ic's burned on power supply. I will open up the tv and closely inspect for any burned/damaged component. (google burned capacitors for you to have an idea on how they might look like). If you find any you can either replace the component or you could also replace the whole circuit board. The specific part number must be print out on the board itself. You need this number to order it from any part distributor.
Good Luck!

Kept clicking off while watching and now won't

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. The most common thing to go bad is the power supply for the screen. Most manufactures call it a Blacklight Inverter Board. Most TVs have a " Protection Mode ". That's when the TV detects a bad circuit board and automatically turns itself OFF so it can protect the other components inside the TV. But, I can't say which board is the problem 100% because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms. I'm sure it going to be a power supply related problem.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under some extented warranty by Vizio, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

I have a 32" HD AKAI TV that keeps turning itself off

If the service shops didn't charge people $200 to fix this I would not post.. But since they do - here's the $8 fix.

If you are electronically inclined, replace the three 1000uf 16v electrolytic capacitors in the power supply board located above the power switch. They are likely bulging out at the top and failed. They are the three in a row at the top - center of the board, located between the two black heat sinks. Make sure you get caps rated for 105c degrees! I recommend replacing them with 1000uf 25v caps. 35v caps will work but might be a tight fit as they are larger diameter.

Should cost you about $8 for the parts shipped. You can get them from partsexpress or digikey or any good local electronics store. Your local radio shack may have them but they won'y be 105c and thus may not last long.

Not handy, ask around, there is usually some electronic tweaker guy around that will install them for a few bucks.

This has solved the turns on / then off problem every time in the 3 I've done.
