sounds like hard water is the problem and may have clogged the jets. clean it out really well and get the dishwasher filtration system from www.dishwasherfilter.com. that will remove the hard minerals and leave your dishes and dishwasher spotless. awesome product and the results are guaranteed.

No, the designers put it in there for a reason; it won't work as well without it, as it would with it in. Probably the mounting tabs are broken or sprung. A new tower isn't very expensive. most likely the water is not hot enough,,it trying to heat the water,,when it starts to sense open the door and just test the water,,careful may be hot ,,but i doubt it...another easy way to tell is what is your hot water heater set on,,if you have a lot of soap residue is a good sign..

This is typical of the two following problems:-

1. You are using no salt or too little salt. Even if you use tablets/powders with a built-in salt action, in some areas the water supplied by the mains pipe still requires supplementary salt.

If you already use salt, then turn up the dosing control a step at a time until the problem goes.

2. The heater element in the dishwasher has failed and so every wash is a cold wash. Heat is vital to enable a dishwasher to operate correctly. Failed heating elements are very common and if you can get the spare part then replacement is straightforward for any competent person; I rarely find that they take more than 20 minutes to replace on most brands. But as you are mixing water and electrics it's definitely NOT a job for a novice.

have you ever seen green led "Clean" light flashing? before or about the same time the buzzing sound started? and if so that would indicate that the control senses a fault in the temperature rise during the heating cycle and that the electronic control could be reset by initiating a service diagnostic cycle.(which is what you were trying to do) pls reread your manual there are times during that sequence that some buttons have to be pushed at the same time and within a certain amount of time..possible that your machine also has a bad timer which would give you a buzzing noise..if thats the case I would recommend replacing the cpu or control board..or the machin all together..The Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard name is sears but whirpool has the contract to produce all "kenmore products.hope that helps.
