Bosch Excel? F04 means the pump hasn't been able to pump out (or at least that it thinks it hasn't been able to pump out). There are multiple possibilities from a clogged hose, to a burnt out motor, to a bad relay or just a bad connection. None the less, I found a blog post that details how to deal with it if you're handy... http://jgwinster.blogspot.com/2011/07/bosch-washing-machine-fault-code-f04.html
i had this problem,no drain or spin, opened the flap at bottom right hand corner and pulled out small hose to drain machine opened circular filter cover (some water may come out) and found a 5p and 1p blocking filter after removing ,machine worked fine.
hope this helps
You need to check and clean pump filter, normally located behind a removeable plastic cover at bottom front of washer right hand side.
If no filter found there remove rear panel of washer, and clean pump from rear of washer.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.
sounds like your water pump has failed or blocked position your drain hose on the floor into a bucket or floor waste let water drain out you should be able to open door reposition drain hose in original position and try again if drain pump does not work check for blockage or replace faulty pump good luck
washing machin pipes were frozen in garage, defrosted now. done one wash half way through, error f04 came up. water still in machine and it makes a noise when trying to spin. The fillter knob has broken and i can't undo it to clean it out.
This error indicates an obstruction in the water pump. . Tip machine back so you can fit a bowl under the bottom right hand
side. Flip back cover at bottom right to reveal pump filter access -
unscrew (quite a bit of water comes out so have the bowl ready).
The machine thinks the drain is blocked.. check the pump and outlet pipe for buildup of dirt.
I noticed holding start down for several seconds whilst powering the machine on, then turning it off / then on again would clear the machine's idea of where it was during a program. Does this affect the error code you're seeing?
Dear gavinrolason,
Error code F-04 and F-05
Check the the connection of the drainage hose to your sink wastage, as it may be blocked and the drainage of water
impeded
Hope it helps, this info is applicable to W840/W860 Hotpoint Machines
