Samsung Tech told me to replace lamp. . .they transfered me to local auth. service who told me same and sold me lamp. . .to no avail, then Samsung told me it had to be balast. . .local auth. service guy told me same, sold me balast, replaced it. . .to no avail! So $300 later. . .same symptoms. . .same problem! Local Samsung guy, who also told me, and sold me lamp and balast, wants $75 now to diagnose? I'm alittle upset with Samsung and their local service guy! Any ideas? Thanks, Matt [email protected] Samsung model HL-S5087W 50" dlp . Lost picture ,then sound. Three flashing lights on console. Remove the rear cover and check the lamp cover switch. Earlier versions used a black plastic switch holder that may break due to improper assembly. The part number for the holder is BP61-01240A. Newer versions use a metal tab attached to the engine. In this case, improper assembly may cause the lamp cover switch to be extended past its range, either breaking the switch or causing it to have an open contact. Replace the switch with BP91-01231A.

Note that in these models, when reinstalling the rear cover, it is best to remove the lamp cover first, install the rear cover, then install the lamp cover. This will make sure that the lamp switch is properly engaged.

Tv turns off after watching an hour - then proceeds to turn off every 15 to 20 minutes there after

Hi if your tv is a DLP or LCD and you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on ,most likely its an issue with the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.(Discard if tv is )If you hear buzzing or spinning noises it could be you color wheel. Also check if fans are running ok or if they are dusty, clean them with an air pressure can if they are dirty. It could also be time to replace the lamp.they normally last 6000-8000 hrs if it's a Philips brand if it's na Osram lamp they will last 4000-5000 hrs 1-2 yrs.God bless you!

I just replaced the lamp on my samsung HL-P5063W (DLP TV)...now the TV will not turn on (no picture...but I do get sound)...when I plug it in, it automatically starts to power on...then it starts making...

Sounds like a bad color wheel. Generally when the color wheel goes bad, when you try and turn the TV on the lamp will ignite for a couple seconds and then turn off. It also makes a rather high pitch squealing noise.

www.Partstore.com should carry a replacement color wheel for your TV

Samsung 50" DLP - Lamp Light Blinking after bulb replacement

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

Dlp samsung

There are instructions to replace the lamp in the user's manual. The light comes up but if the lamp has now already several hours of use the resistance of the lamp increases and shut down the power supply of the lamp. Second, the lamp power supply could be bad too, but lets be optimistic and just replace the lamp first.

Samsung DLP HL-P5063W

you have the same problem I have. The problem is fixed by changing the new light bulb. The problem appears again after 1500 hours of use. You can keep buying new light bulbs or avoid it by not buying another Samsung TV.

Samsung DLP HL-P5063W. . .no lamp!

You will need to have it diagnosed if you do not have the service manual, or the knowledge of how these circuits work. I can tell you to replace this or that but it would be a guess! You need to start measuring the voltages on the ballast circuit, as I have seen door switches, fan sensors, heat sensors cause all of your symptoms as well. Good Luck
