Kenmore 60 series washer

Is this a gas washer? Is was connected up when I rented my apt. but only scalding hot water comes out. If I turn down the only water I see going into the machine, it just lowers the pressure until I shut it completely off. Help! How do I get to the cold water?

If your only seeing one water feed into the machine then there is a second one missing. the washer should be connected to a hot and cold feed not just one. youve got to find the second feed (cold) if there is one and connect to it as well.

SOURCE: Hot/Cold water knob will not work on washing machine

Does the water flow when you have it on warm or cold settings?  If on warm setting and water flow is cold, its probably the mixing valve.  This part isnt that expensive, and not that hard to replace.  Remove the two front console caps, remove the two console hold down screws then flip the console out and then over the top.  You will see two gold cabinet hold down clamps, pop them out, the lift the whole cabinet off the unit.   You will see the mixing valve right where the inlet hoses connect to the machine.  Let me know if you need further help.

SOURCE: Cold water doesn't work in my washer

There's no cold water Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

  • Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.

  • Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.

  • Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 series washer no hot water

CHeck to see if the screens in the water valve are plugged. If not the hot water side of the valve went out. Replace the water valve and it will fix both the hot and cold problem.

SOURCE: cold water trickle hot water runs good

turn off water valves at wall, disconnect the supply hoses from the washer. where the hoses connect to the washer, there is usually a stainless steel screen/strainer inline on both the hot and cold inlet. corrosion on the cold side is pretty common. Menards, Lowes Home Depot stores sell the replacment screeens.

My kenmore serie 300 washer only wash with cold wather no hot wather

If I understand, you are saying that you are not getting any hot water coming into the washer. First, I would make sure that you have hot water available at the washer spigots. SLOWLY unscrew the hot water hose at the hot water spigot and see if you have hot water available. If you do, the problem is usually at the water inlet solenoids, or if you are lucky, the water screen filter. Turn off the how water spigot and unscrew the hose at the washer. There is a screen there at the washer water inlet, see if it is clogged. If not, the problem is most likely the solenoids. To replace the solenoid unit requires some disassembly of the washer.

How do I turn down thermostat on this water heater?

The temperture of a water heater should be approx 120 degrees. If you use a dishwasher that is the desirable tempurture to kill bacteria.

If your heater has two thermostates then make sure they are set for a 5 degree difference between them

Good Luck,

Reliance 501 water heater and I cant find a way to turn it DOWN ..the water is scalding

Replace both thermostats and test both elements.

Power is off while doing these repairs.
If water is hot, then you know that electric line and circuit breaker are working correctly.

Kenmore 90 series Water pressure turning up and down

it will switch from hot to cold and back and forth trying to regulate the temp. You probrbly have more pressure in your cold water line than your hot or vise versa. This will cause it to seem to pulse. Dave www.washermd.com
