Toro lawn mower sputters and stops working after running

I have a Toro lawn mower that sputters and acts like it is out of gas after it runs for a while. I let it sit for 5 minutes and it starts right away and runs for a while again. The longer I mow, the shorter amount of time it will run before stopping. Ideas???

The lawn mower won't stay running. It starts up without a problem. I mowed the lawn for about 45 mins and the mower sounded like it was out of gas. It has plenty of gas in it. If I tilt it, by...

Sounds like the automatic choke to me. When it acts up next time, remove the air filter, and observe the butterfly valve on the carb. Hold it open with a screwdriver, and see if it starts and runs. I have found that wireing the thing wide open solved my Toro problems. The mower is still under factory warrenty however, so you can always take it back! Hope this helps my friend!

My mower starts when cold and runs for a while OK

it sounds like the ignition coil is shorting out inside once it gets hot. or it could be the spark plug as well.

Mower starts but won't run

Check gas line. Check for a gas filter and replace it. Replace spark plug. If the prob continues - it might need the carb rebuilt.. If a small engine sits to long without being run - the gas will shellac in the carb and render it to not function properly..

have a great day !

Toro timecutter spits and sputters when blades are engaged

Did you drain the fuel before you put it away? If not then you should drain the fuel and clean the carb. Gas when in lawn mowers and any other small gas engine will turn into a slim in a way and will block the carb. Drain the fuel and clean the carb system will run great when that is done
