I have a (new) 47" LG LCD (47LG50) that I have hooked up to my (old) Bose Lifestyle Model 5. I have my audio cables connected to the AUDIO OUT ports on the LG and going to the AUDIO IN ports on the Bose. Pretty basic setup. I have audio coming out of the Bose speakers however I cannot control the volume via the TV. In other words, for example, when I turn the volume all the way down on the TV, the internal TV speakers do turn down, however audio is still coming through the Bose speakers. I can only control the volume by turning down the volume on the Bose system itself.
I've never had this issue before with my other receivers. Any advice would be appreciated.
Mike
The issue is not the receiver, it is the TV. The output from the LG is a FIXED output not a variable one. There may be a menu option to change that in the TV, but I'm not sure. Many people turn off the TV speakers when using a stereo for sound. If the TV output was dependent upon the volume control of the TV, there would be no way to shut off the TV speakers.
Double check the rear of the set for a set of outputs labeled VARIABLE. Connecting the receiver to those would do as you wish.
