There is an ice door solenoid that pulls that open and the linkage may be binding. Check www.searspartsdirect.com and look at the diagram and parts list. Look for the ice door kit.

SOURCE: Icemaker flap/door does not mechanically open

The description says you have an LG fridge?  I may need the entire model # from the sticker inside the fridge to tell for sure, but there is a motor behind the dispenser controls that opens the door.  Let me know if you need more help.  Also, you can view parts and diagrams at http://www.appliancepartspros.com/.

LG Freezer ice maker makes ice but wont dispense

There is a mechanical flap (trap door) that should open to allow ice that is being pushed by the auger in the bottom of the bin to fall out. Possibly the solenoid that opens the door does not work, or you just have an obstruction (piece of ice) preventing the door from opening far enough to allow the ice to pass through. Here is some helpful information and instructions.

Ice maker will only make crushed ice and no cubes, what could be the problem

Open the freezer door.
Pull the ice bin forward about 3 inches.
Push the ice bin to the rear of the freezer until it seats and locks in place.
Then try to dispense cubes.
The ice bin can become dislodged from its locked position and the crushed ice solenoid activates automatically.

Model JCD2389GEW - ice/water dispenser does not work. Until recently, it did not do anything on any of the settings (water, cube and crushed ice) now it crushes ice on all three settings but the door does...

We have a Jenn Air side by side, model JCD2389GEW. The ice dispensers work, the water does not. This started after I replaced the filter. I've checked and nothing is locked out. When you press the actuator pad to dispense water, you can hear a noise similar to a small pump which I assume is a solenoid attempting to open. Any ideas?

GE Profile 26.6 cu. ft. side by side is frosting in the shoot

Oddly enough, the problem is with your ice dispenser. What happens is that the door at the bottom of the ice chute is probably not sealed. This is likely because there is a solenoid that is supposed to hold that door open when you push your cup against the dispenser arm, and THEN, close it again when you release. If the chute door is not sealed, warmer, moist air from outside the refridgerator will be canstantly drawn up the chute where the moisture will freeze as frost. Gradually, this frost builds up in the chute until there is no longer enough room foir the ice to fall. You can usually look up at the chute from outside and see that the door is not sealed. In my case, I left it unsealed because the door would not open to let the ice out. It took me about 3 months to figure out that this was causing my frost-clogging problem. The solution is to replace the solenoid that is supposed to open and close the chuite door. If you remove the despenser panel, you will see that this solenoid is probably all rusted up and not working. The following link will allow you to enter you model number and see a diagram of the offending area. http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php

Ice Dispenser "Flapper" is loose--How does it reattach?

the plastic arms that move the flapper door open and closed are broken. I had this happen to me some months back. You will need to buy a repair kit from your local dealer. Explain what is broken and they can look up their part/kit number. You can't buy just the plastic door. Mine cost about $30 but was worth the price of getting my ice maker dispenser operating again. Very minor mechanics required to open this portion of the mechanism. Mostly some removal of screws and a spring or two. Good luck.

Jenn Air JCD2389GES ice dispenser problem

You could have a layer of solid ice at the bottom of your icetray. Remove icetray. Remove any ice in bottom. Reinstall. Be careful there is a connection on the rear of the icetray, you may have to turn it to get it to mesh correctly. Fill with ice and it should work fine. Good Luck.
