I have a Clicker universal Garage door opener remote control Model KLIK1U. How can I increase the range to open the door? Currently, I have to be within 10-15 feet of the door opener to operate. I have replaced the battery. No change. I purchased a new Clicker remote but no change. The opener is a Chamberlain Liftmaster Professional (1/3 horsepower) purchased from and installed by Home Depot.

Check the antenna on the motor. It is usually a single thin wire. There also could be something nearby that is causing interference to the unit and it wont pick up the signal till the transmitter is close enough to overpower the interference.

SOURCE: Universal garage door remote

I have a feeling your neighbor operated their door opener when you were programming your new clicker. Try erasing the memory of your opener and then program the clicker again making sure your neighbors do not operate theirs at the same time. To erase the memory hold the smart/learn button in for 10 seconds.

SOURCE: We have the chamberlain universal clicker klik1u

Hello iris.... Your remote control needs a new battery. Once you install the battery check to see if it works. If not, then reprogram the remote by pushing the programming button on the back of the garage door motor, then while it is flashing push the button on the remote to reprogram it. Joe

The opener should have an antenna wire hanging out of it. Did someone/something hang on it?

How do I get distance from opener will only open whenupclose?

Has it always been that way, or just recently.
Most garage doors will open for about 100 or 200 feet away.

If it just started, you can replace the remote battery.

Hope this helps.

You're going to have to clear the memory on the openers. This is usually done by holding the learn button for about 15 seconds or until the led turns off. I'm not sure exactly what opener you have, so this may not be the case, if not, let me know exactly which opener you're programming your remote to.

If one works OK, and the other has poor range, then it is either a battery problem (try swapping batteries with the good one) or it is faulty and needs to be returned to where you purchased it.
