I feed them till they don't come around any more. Usually in the late fall. I live in southern Ontario Canada. Mine quit showing up when my red Cana Lilies died after first frost.

Try using a small net to get it out of there. They are usually drawn to light so open the door and turn off all lights in the room. Make sure there is no cat or dog that may frighten the bird. Good luck.
