they have a start-up and shut down proceedure, and they dont want you mess'n with stuff while these things happen. if it is accidentally shut off, allow proceedure to complete before attempting to power up again

Some tv's do this so you dont freakout about things not happening soon enough, and start pushing buttons. it has to go through a start up process.

Could be that the pixels on the Ipad are set to high for the TV at the bottom left it shows what the pixals are accepted.

We're is the Hdmi channel

You have to go to the menu or find the input button on the remote. then you scroll the input HDMI numbers. If you plugged it into HDMI1 then select that input and it should work.

If the model listed here is correct--tell me if different-- it is a problem related to the picture tubes this model uses.

Picture fussy, double picture, and both side and top of screen are distorted and waved in

Sounds like convergence problem. Fixing the problem requires removing, desoldering and soldering the convergence ICs.
The repair for this may go for a couple Hundred or more..
Best of luck

My Tv needs a picture tube. Model numberAV-48P776. This is a JVC Big Screen. Is it possible to repair?

A repair is possible assuming a tube can be found. I would google the model number with "tube " after the model, somebody somewhere will have one.
If a tube is still available it is a three man job to change it! The tube is very heavy.

I have a model av48p776 jvc I am getting jitter lines across the screen more often than not and the bright comes and goes what do I need to do to fix it I would hate to get rid of the TV I just bought it

JVC AV48P776 Jitter and Brightness Varies

Check for convergence failure. Convergence Gallery Try adjusting convergence in user menu. If convergence display is messed up or adjustments do not work correctly, you have an Intermittent short circuit within an STK IC.

Look at menu screen with an unused input (antenna or video). If menu is stable and clear, TV may be OK and you may have a signal input problem.

If it is not poor quality input signal or convergence problem, someone has to troubleshoot to determine if it is a Video, Processing, Power supply or CRT related problem.

Most likely convergence.

Vertical jitters on picture - JVC AV48P776

What you are experiancing is loss of High voltage. The line is called a retrace line. It is usally caused by failure of the flyback circuit or aging of the TV tube. This is the single most common failure with CRT based display systems. The high voltage can be tweaked up, to accomidate for the age of the tube. Its a short term solution. Because of the high voltage nature of this circuit, suggest a professional repair.
