Support, My Maytag washer will not spin. When the spin cycle is selected the motor turns, belt in tact and all pulleys are turning. I have removed the drum and would have expected to be able to turn the collar on the transmission that the drum bolts up to, but it will not move. If I manually turn the transmission pulley I can see the agitator shaft move. I have looked at the motor schematic it shows a 2-speed motor. What I am sure of is if transmission has a centrifugal clutch and may be the motor RPM is not fast enough? Or maybe it?s a transmission problem. Any help would greatly appreciate
Your Thrust bearing on the bottom of the transmission is not releaseing the break. try turning the pulley with the belt off in the opposite direction this should free up your break. If it doesn't replace your brake ststor and rotor as well as your thrust bearing. This should solve your problem. Roger

I want to thank you for getting back to me so soon. This will be a great place to start. Is it possiable that you have a assembly diagram that you could forward, so that I can identify the location and what I have to remove to replace this?
Thanks again,
Ron
My Maytag PAV2300AWW won't spin. At first I removed the brake assy, and when I tried turning the drum by hand, a couple of coins dislodged from under the drum. After reassembly, still no spin. It seems that the brake is not releasing. I removed the spring from the the brake rotor, and the tub will spin, but then the tub also spins with the agitator. Not sure if the brake is bad or the thrust bearing. Also not sure how the thrust bearing is supposed to release brake on this model. There is a small white cam that fits into pulley and it looks OK. Any way to tell which part is the problem?
