How to fix the Windows 7 Network Connection Problem

On this short demonstration, I would like to present, how to fix the network connection problem in windows 7. As we know, many Windows 7 users are facing Network connection problem like;

"unidentified network" or "no internet access"
f135d94.jpg

I don't mean this will work for all the users, but most users will definitely get benefit from this. There might be other fixes too, but I am only presenting the most common and the simplest method.
Before we begin, please disable the Internet Protocol Version 6"ipv6" (what we commonly use is Internet protocol version 4 "Ipv4") from your "Local Area Network Properties" if you don't need it (this is not totally implemented for home users, if you are sure you need it, no problem just leave it as it was). To do this, click on the "Local Area Network Status" click "Properties" and from the list below the "General" tab, uncheck (remove the tick mark) from the "Internet Protocol (Tcp/Ipv6)" or something like that, and click "Ok" and close it.

2bd9215.jpg

Also enable "dhcp" services, if otherwise you'll need to provide a static ip address, type in the ip address which was given by the Internet Service Provider (ISP) on the IP address box. This depends on the service provider from whom you get your connection. When you are done, click "Apply" and then "ok".

1a90f3a.jpg

51051a6.jpg

Now, let's proceed simply like this.
Start -> Run (in the text box)-> and type in "msconfig" (without qoutes)
The System Configuration Utility window will pop up, now click on the "Services" tab and from the services lists, locate "Id_String2.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B87 9762", and disable it. (Remove the tick mark on the left hand side of the above mentioned "Id_String2.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B87 9762" )
Click "Apply" and then "Ok". You'll need to restart your system for the changes to take effect.

Optional; You can also go to the "services" directly by typing "services.msc" in the run box. The only difference is that, you'll need to right click on the "Id_String2.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B87 9762", sand select "disable" or "Stop". Restart your computer or you can try disabling and enabling the Network Adaptor. Now check your internet connection by dialing using your username and password or try connecting to the ISP.

If unfortunate, this doesn't work for you, you can also try the following methods;

Open the Network Adaptor Properties, click on the "configure" and then again "Advanced" and on the left pane, click "flow control" you'll see the value (which is set) on the right hand side of the dialog box, change the value to "rx & tx" (when you click over the value box, a drop down list will be displayed, select rx&tx from the list and click ok). Sometimes even small trick fixes the problem.

If anyone has come across this similar problem and have solved using another method, it'd be very much appreciated if he/she can add them as comments. Good luck to you all.

I have wildblue and my connection will not consistently connect . It freezes up the computer running xp wireless router is WNR854T

With wireless connections, there are at times brief disconnects. If you set your computer's ip address to a fixed value, this may help the problem. With a DHCP connection (not fixed) you could be getting a different address after one of the temporary disconnects causing the hang. Go to control panel, network connections, properties, then scroll down the window to the tcp/ip line , highlight it, then click the properties button. In the properties, click the use ip address button, enter a fixed ip address. If you are using a standard home address system, use 192.168.1.10 (if you have more than one computer, make sure each address is unique). subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, gateway is your router ip address, typically 192.168.1.1. Check your router information to be sure. You can use your router ip for the DNS server ip. If that does not work, check the DNS address provided in your router settings. Save all the settings.

See how that works, if it works, please leave feedback.

Good Luck

I have trouble browsing the internet. I often get this message: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

You might be having a DNS problem. DNS (Domain name system) is responsible for changing the website name to the address (where the website is stored). You can try openDNS (www.opendns.com) The site can be confusing so here are the instructions. 1. Go to control panel > network connections 2. Choose the connection that gives you internet, right click on it and Click properties 3. Now select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties 4. Check the box that says "Use the following DNS addresses" 5. Enter the following values (addresses) 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220

Upgrading the motherboard

There is no way to change the MAC address, but you can make Windows tell the system it has a different address that might fool your other program. Follow the instructions below.
Change the MAC address in Windows
  1. Go to Start -> Control Panel. Double click on Network Connections (inside Network and Internet Connections category in Windows XP). The, right click on the active network connection with network adapter that you want to change the MAC address (normally Local Area Network or Wireless Network Connection) and click on Properties. Above steps work in Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 . For Windows Vista, access to NIC’s properties is from Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connections.
    Alternatively, if you already know which network adapter that’s responsible for your network or Internet connection, go to Device Manager and open the properties dialog by double click on the NIC itself.
  2. In the General tab, click on the Configure button.
  3. Click on Advanced tab.
  4. In the Property section, select and highlight Network Address or Locally Administered Address.
  5. To the right, “Not Present” radio button is by default selected as value. Change the value by clicking on radio button for Value:, and then type in a new MAC address to assign to the NIC. change-mac-address.jpg The MAC address consists of 6 pairs of numbers (0 - 9) and characters (A - F) combination. For example, 88-17-E8-90-E2-0A. When entering the new MAC value, omit the dash (-), for example 8817E890E20A.
  6. Click OK when done.
  7. To verify the change of MAC address, go to command prompt, then type in one of the following commands: ipconfig /all
    net config rdr
  8. Reboot the computer if successful to make the change effective.
