Turbo often runs all the elements. I reckon that you have a multifunction switch and the other settings (try base heat _ ) still work.
If so >> check fan element
Many thanks for your reply. The oven has the following settings: light only, grill, grill with fan, fan oven and "turbo", everything seems to work fine except the fan oven which seems a little strange.
PS. the fan still turns on but it just doesn't seem to activate the heating element at the same time.

SOURCE: The oven stops working
if your light also cuts out intermittenly sounds like a loose connection, when heated moves and loses contact, def check wiring
SOURCE: Oven does not maintain temperature while cooking.
Is this a gas unit? If so you might have a weak oven igniter.
SOURCE: oven does not heat
I would suggest that you check the oven element, it sounds as though it is faulty to me.
SOURCE: smeg oven not working. only clock and thermostat light working
It sounds like you have either one of the following things that need attention. First, turn off both breakers to the oven and then back on. Next check the wiring from the receptacle to the back of the oven. Next, check your internal fuses. Most ovens have them. Last, check the wiring to the elements and control switches. Somewhere you have a wire burned off the terminals or control switch. That smell you referred to is probably one of the wires that may be burned.
