Hi, filter grip on my hotpoint bwd129 has snapped off trying to open it. Any ideas how I can now get it off? The machine was not spinning properly & started to smell awful. Thanks

SOURCE: "Test" displays no washing done!

Your test mode is on, maybe accidently. Press "start", "cancel", "on" & "off" together for 10 secs, you will see d/off come on the display. Do the same & the test mode comes on again.

SOURCE: Bad Smell

this is caused by a build up of old detergent and limescale.there are some industrial strength descalers around.wpro descaler is one.add the sachet to the drum with no wash load.pour in a kettle of hot water(not boiling)and leave for thirty minutes.then put washing machine on a 60 degree cycle and allow to run right through.you will need to repeat approximately every three months

o k find the acess panel in the front or back then follow this procudure most likely there is something jamming the pump look on the back and you might see an access panel remove it and you will see a large hose coming down from the tub.Now the washer will still be full of water. There are three ways to deal with this the best way is to get a shop vac.remove the drain hose from the stand pipe and vac the water out,the second is to get a pair of radiator hose clamps from the auto parts store and clamp the large hose as close to the tub as possible ,the third is you can get a bucket remove the drain hose from the stand pipe and getting as close to the floor as possible let the water drain in the bucket .after that put some towels around the pump.Remove the clamp and slide the large Rubber boot off the pump look in the pump for foreign objects jamming the impeller blades and for broken blades if broken replace the pump.feel in the boot for same as pump .Then reassemble if nothing found then go check drain hose.

SOURCE: hotpoint ultima wt960 washing machine noisy on spin

My WT960 was also very noisey on the spin cycle, but it had been like this since new, but became increasingly loud, to the point it sounded like it was going to explode. Boyfriend took machine apart to find the concrete weight had also loosened, bolts tightened, though awkward to get to. Now the machine spins ALOT silently than before!

Hotpoint BWD129 Spinning Difficulties

IF it sits and you can turn it later, the only thing that would cause that is something heating up and becoming seized. When it cools off it frees itself. I would check the bearings on the drum.

Filter cap stuck onb my hotpoint bwd129 and now grip is broken from trying to unprise it. Any ideas how to get it open ? Wanted to get filter open as machine not spinning properly and smelling awful.

I had same problem, broke the grip on the filter cap. This is how I was able to get around the problem. Gently tapped in a screw sideways into the opening, the screw was slightly bigger than the opening. Then with a pliers I was able to grip and turn, the screw fell out a few times but got there in the end, ordered new filter cap. Job done! 44c18079-c40a-4483-9213-a549616208cf.png

I have a similar Hotpoint model to this, that does something very similar now and again, usually when trying to set a delayed start.

The only way I have found to "fix" it is to turn the machine off for at least 5 minutes, and then try again.

Hope this helps.
