Have you tried packing them seporately? I have a few brushes that I travel with all the time and have found that packing them in a pencil case with those elastic slots keeps them in place and looking nice when you get there.

My face wash and body wash keep leaking all over everything else in my toiletry bag no matter how tight I try to close the bottles.

Whenever I travel I pack my face wash and other liquids in zip-lock bags so that if and when they leak the mess is contained and clean up is much easier than washing everything.

Check the wheels and axles for damage or bent shafts. Remove the bottom cover and inspect the brush roller for damage--breakage of the roller, bad or broken end bearings, missing brush sections, or something stuck to the roller like a wad of gum or something. Hope this helps!

You could try contacting Hoover for parts availability. If it's and older WindTunnel and Hoover no longer has the part, try eBay.
