I have Merit 710T that has recently begun to smell. I have lubricated the belt and had some problems readjusting the tightness and alignment but now that its aligned the treadmill gives me about 30 minutes before it begins to smell (not necessarily a burning smell). five minutes later it stops abruptly. Is the motor going?

SOURCE: Proform 622 Exp treadmill belt slips

If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 inches above the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord, insert the key, and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened. Now if this does not solve this problem then check the drive belt and adjust accordingly, also reverse the process of the above mentioned

Merit 725T Plus Treadmill. It gets hot after about 30 minutes of Cardio workout. Any suggestions to fix this?

If your Merit 725T Plus Treadmill is getting hot after approximately 30 minutes of use, it could indicate an issue with the treadmill's motor or components. Here are some suggestions to help address the heat-related problem:
  1. Check for proper ventilation: Ensure that the treadmill is placed in a well-ventilated area with sufficient space around it. Adequate airflow is essential to dissipate heat generated by the motor. Make sure there are no obstructions blocking the air vents or cooling fans on the treadmill.
  2. Clean the treadmill: Over time, dust and debris can accumulate inside the treadmill, obstructing airflow and causing the motor to work harder, leading to increased heat. Regularly clean the treadmill, including the motor area, using a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.
  3. Lubricate the belt: Insufficient lubrication on the treadmill belt can increase friction, causing the motor to overwork and generate excessive heat. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines to lubricate the belt using an appropriate treadmill belt lubricant.
  4. Verify proper power supply: Ensure that the treadmill is connected to a stable and adequate power source. Fluctuations or inadequate power supply can put additional strain on the motor, leading to overheating. Consider using a dedicated circuit for the treadmill if necessary.
  5. Check for mechanical issues: Inspect the treadmill for any mechanical issues, such as loose or damaged components, worn-out belts, or misalignment. If you notice any abnormalities, it may be necessary to contact the manufacturer's customer support or a professional technician for further assistance or repairs.
  6. Monitor workout intensity: Adjusting the intensity or duration of your workouts can help reduce the strain on the treadmill motor. If you consistently engage in high-intensity workouts, consider incorporating

Trimline T340 treadmill "skips" or jolts to a stop for half a second, then resumes when any weight is on it

It sounds like there may be a mechanical issue with your Trimline T340 treadmill. Here are a few potential causes and solutions to the problem you're experiencing:
  1. Belt tension: If the belt is too tight or too loose, it may cause the jolting or skipping you're experiencing. Try adjusting the belt tension following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Belt alignment: If the belt is not properly aligned, it may cause it to slip or jolt. Check that the belt is centered and properly aligned.
  3. Motor issues: If the motor is struggling to keep up with the weight on the treadmill, it may cause the jolting or skipping. Check the motor and make sure it's in good condition. If you're unsure, it may be best to have a professional take a look.
  4. Deck and rollers: Check the deck and rollers for wear and damage. If they are worn or damaged, they may be causing the jolting or skipping. Replace any damaged components.
  5. Lubrication: Check the treadmill's lubrication. If it's not properly lubricated, it may cause the belt to stick or slip. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for lubrication.
If you're unsure about any of these potential issues or how to resolve them, it may be best to have a professional take a look. Using a treadmill that's not working properly can be dangerous, so it's important to get it fixed as soon as possible.

My belt keep slipping. And I try tighten the ajustment bolts.

Make sure you adjust vthe motor belt first, it may be where the slipping is coming from. You should only be able to twist a properly tightened motor belt 45 degrees. After that, readjust the walk belt. If you have been tightening the walk belt trying to get the slipping out it may be too tight now. Use the instructions in your owners manual to adjust the walk belt. Also, lube under walk belt with the recommended lubrication . That will help the walk belt not too grab and take pressue off of both belts. Good luck

I lost my safety key for my Treadmill, its a Merit Fitness 715T plus Treadmill. I need to know where i can find a replacement, cant seem to find a website to purchase the key.

I just found out I had lost my key too. I have a Merit 710T. I called the company and they directed me to their website.

http://store.horizonfitness.com/c-33-safety-keys.aspx

On the page there is a link to a chart which will tell you what key is right for your model. They are cheap, only @ $13. Not sure about S&H though. I've also heard that if the key is a magnet you MIGHT be able to use another magnet to complete the circuit. I'm going to try this when I get home to tide me over till I get my next check and order a new key.

I have a Horizon fitness CST3 and the belt stops running but everything else stays on. Do you know what is cuasing my problem?

How old is your treadmill? Has the deck been lubricated? Do you smell anything odd when the belt stops? Unplug treadmill, remove motor cover and check cables are all connected.

Timing belt

  1. THIS IS FOR GAS ENGINE 4 Cylinders A 2.0L SFI (found in 93% of 1996 Volkswagen Golf)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the accessory drive belts, crankshaft pulley and the timing belt cover(s).
  3. Temporarily reinstall the crankshaft pulley bolt and turn the crankshaft to TDC of No. 1 piston. The mark on the camshaft sprocket should be aligned with the mark on the inner timing belt cover or the edge of the cylinder head.
  4. With the distributor cap removed, the rotor should be pointing toward the No. 1 mark on the rim of the distributor housing. On 8 valve engines, the notch on the crankshaft pulley should align with the dot on the intermediate shaft sprocket.
  5. Loosen the locknut on the tensioner pulley and turn the tensioner counterclockwise to relieve the tension on the timing belt.
  6. Slide the timing belt from the sprockets.

To install:
  1. Check the alignment of the timing marks. On 16 valve engines, the mark on the tooth should align with the mark on the rear belt cover.
  2. Install the new timing belt and tension the belt so it can be twisted 90 ° at the middle of it's longest section, between the camshaft and intermediate sprockets.
  3. Recheck the alignment of the timing marks and, if correct, turn the engine 2 full revolutions to return to TDC of No. 1 piston. Recheck belt tension and timing marks. Readjust as required. Torque the tensioner nut to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
  4. Install the belt cover and accessory drive belts.
  5. If the belt is too tight, there will be a growling noise that rises and falls with engine speed.
