I have the Kenmore HE3, it is stuck on the SUDS cycle. I let it go but it has now been on overnight and still not cleared. Is there a way to reset the machine, so I can drain it?
I have the same problem. I accidentally put too much HE detergent in the washer, and it stuck on SUDS. (Someone else had put the detergent in, I came in later and added a new amount, so it had twice the recommended amount.) The machine stopped, I took out all the suds, and tried to get it to continue the cycle. The SUDS code remains on, and I can't get the machine to turn off or reset the cycle. Please let me know what ideas you have to fix this.

I think the 5UD is SUD. It means excessive sudsing has been detected, and a suds routine has been started to reduce excessive suds. This routine will add time to the original cycle. I have had this on my display a couple of times when I guess I put too much HE soap in the machine.
SUDS LOCK (to much detergent detected during the wash cycle)
he motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If "Sud" is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.
Potential Causes
• If too much detergent was used, run the unit through a Rinse/ Spin cycle then a Normal cycle without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the excess detergent. • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.

YOu more than likely have suds in your washer, or an extremely unbalanced load. push the pause cancel button twice, that should unlock the washer. open the washer, and look inside. Is there a lot of suds, or towels that are tangled up? If so, add some fabric softener to the wash tub and do a rinse drain spin (for suds) for the extremely unbalanced load, take the towels (or what ever load you are doing) and put about 1/2 of them in. I have the same washer and have experienced this "problem" once or twice in 7 years. And those were the two culprits. Hope that helps
my wife was doing laudry with he3 and when it quite the door would not open.tried to restart a new cycle and it would not start.I unplugged the washer and let sit for 2 min.replugged it in and it started to work.I hope this helps you.
