I have a countertop GE Microwave oven, model number JES1451. It's been working just fine until I tried to use the Popcorn Sensor Cook button. It stayed on for about 30 sec., and then timed out and stopped as if the popcorn was done. The same happened the next day when I attempted the Baked Potato Sensor Cook button. How do I correct this?

Is not normal for a microwave to shutdown after 4 minutes of operation.
From the info you are providing, It looks like the magnetron might be overheating causing the thermal fuse to shut it down until it cools down. There may also be a loose connection in one of the switches or a cold solder joint in the low voltage power supply.
I would suggest to check and make sure that the fans are functional, If always did; it could be that there isn't much air circulation where the appliance was installed.

Yes. As the magnetron (The microwave generator) ages with use it becomes less efficient. As such it produces less powerful microwaves and loses penetrating power:::Spiceweasel.au

Your membrane keypad has probably failed.
If you might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.
It's at http://www.microwavedisplay.com/keypad_replacement.pdf
We have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Essentially you unplug the oven from the wall outlet, and remove the
control panel assembly as per the instructions at the site linked above.
(Remove the grille from across the top, remove the top screw in the control panel frame, then lift up & out).
There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the
unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the
grille.
Then unplug the keypad from the circuit board, heat up the keypad from
the front with a hair dryer, then peel the old keypad off.
You have to make sure all the old adhesive is off or the new keypad will not stick.
I use paint thinner or mineral spirits, then follow up with isopropyl
alcohol to be sure the panel face is squeaky clean and dry.
Then peel the backing paper from the new keypad and carefully press the new keypad in place.
You need to be precise - you cannot apply it, peel it off, then reapply it.
If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

They have that manual their site, but it's only in French!
If you don't speak French, then visit the manual download page and put in only "SM807" in the search box.
The manual for either the SM80703 or SM80704 may be close enough to yours to work.
You will need the free Adobe Reader to view or print it.
Good luck!

You need to use one of the metal racks that came with the Viking microwave to raise the popcorn bag off the bottom of the microwave. It works great!
The magnetron in your microwave has probably gone out. The magnetron is the
part of the microwave oven that produces microwaves. If you unit is a built in model,
it will likely cost more to fix than a new one. Same thing goes for a
countertop unit.
