GE Adorda dishwasher

I have a GE Adora Dishwasher that is appx 2-3 years old. It consistenly makes a rumbling sound in the wash cycles. It will occasionally run properly but most of the time it makes this noise. It otherwise runs fine and the there is no problems with the dishes at the end of a cycle. Any advice?

I have a GE Dishwasher that was making a Knocking sound during wash cycles. 4 or 5 knocks, then nothing for 30 seconds or so... Then again. I tied the tube to the rack with twist-ties and the sound STOPPED! Thanks for the fix.. I will get my first good nights sleep in a week!!!

    Same loud intermittent growling/rumbling problem.

    What's the fix?

The Vish solution works. Click on this:

You need to secure the water tube that runs from the back of the dishwasher along the bottm rack. Secure it to the top rack both at the center and towards the back. Those plastic tie wraps work the best. Thanks Vish!!!!

I was having the same problem as many others described here, with a GE Quietpower 2 making the low, growling, grumbling, vibration-type noise during the wash cycle. GOOD NEWS: I applied the plastic tie-wrap fix per Vish's comments (to secure the middle spayer tube hose to the bottom side of the top rack), and the noise has gone away. Having said that -- this is still not a very quiet dishwasher - - but you get what you pay for - - pretty skimpy on insulation...

    Thanks for the assist Vish!

I had the same problem with my GE Quietpower 2 growling during the wash cycles......driving me crazy for months. Went online to find your suggestion about tie wraps or a rubber band. The rubber band did the trick! I couldn't believe it. I lived with this noise for months. It was intermittent, so the serviceman said to wait until it was continuous. When I checked it out online and read your solution, my husband immediately stopped the machine, attached a rubber band to the tube, turned the machine back on and NO noise!! No more calls to the repairman. Thank you so much!

Same problem, with a little bit different fix, I had to cut a piece of 3/4 pvc tubing about 4 inches long then cut it lengthwise in half to use as a top and bottom spacer. Then i secured it with two plastic tie wraps. I had to do it that way to align the input tube to the outlet port

I have a similar poblem. I have a GE GSD2200 model and it makes lous groaning noise when it goes into the wash cycle. Sorry for my ignorance but I cannot figure out the solution. I have a middle sprayer arm that comes up during the wash cycle, how am I supposed to tie it to the top basket, how do I role the lower basket in, if I tie it up ? Can you explain in a little detail on how to fix this? This noise has been driving me nuts for months. I am very close to calling a service technician, I would apreciate your help.

We had the same problem with our Profile.  Thanks Vish for the solution, it worked like a charm.  I was about to call the service tech tomorrow, you saved me at least $100!  Now I can run my dishwasher without my husband going into spasms!

This one is a known issue and an easy fix. Use a tie wrap to securely tie the water tube for the middle spray to the upper basket. That's it. Believe it or not, it's that simple. You may want to secure it at the front and the back. To test this you can use the tie wraps used to closed the plastic grocery or bread bags. If this solves the problem you can buy a bag of nylon tie wraps from any hardware store. I had a similar problem with another GE model with a similar problem. The dishwahser used to make a horrible grinding noise during the wash cycle. One I secured the middle sprayer arm the grinding noise went away.

Wow... I too was seriously thinking of getting a new dishwasher until I found this article. Simply using a tie wrap to anchor the upper basket tube near the rear, solved the issue for me as well! I figured it was something on the upper basket because I could move things around and the nosie would stop, but this didn't always work. Now I know what was going on! Thanks a million!

There is a little plastic holder for the water tube of the middle sprayer. When it breaks (and apparently it does easily as I have had my Adora dishwasher only 6 months), the tie trick does work.

I have a Quietpower III Adora dishwasher with the same complaint, and have had it out on the kitchen floor several times trying to find the groaning problem. I was 90% there, having eliminated anything under the tub and the back of the countertop, etc. and had already put in a piece of foam rubber between the top tube and the top of the tub, but that still wasn't the problem....when I browsed for "dishwasher groaning" and found this site. THANK YOU Vish and others!
It seems the middle tube is indeed the culprit, and tying it at the rear, where it meets the outflow of water seems to help the best. Now I can start to rekindle the love affair I've had with Adora for a couple of years now. It's finally quiet again!

Months of growling and groaning and all it took was a .01 cent garbage bag tie. Awesome. Thanks for the tip.

Fixed my GE Profile with the groaning problem as well. Saved a $60 deductible for our home warranty.

We have been living with this noisy so-called Quietpower II for weeks and I was actually considering buying a new dishwasher.
I tied a wire tie around the middle spray arm tube and the noise is gone. My dishwasher is quiet again.

Thanks a million for the advice.

Sounds like the water inlet valve isn't working. Check your house water pressure and make sure it's not above 80 psi. If it isn't, then call a repair company that handles GE warranty work.

My GE Adora dishwasher is not cleaning well and the detergent isn't completely disolving. What could be the problem?

Mine has been doing the same thing for about 2 months now.. I tried Finnish brand diswasher cleaner, but to no avail. Try this:

1) Empty your dishwasher, then take out the lower rack.

2) Start a regular cycle. Wait until you hear the jets turning, then open the door. Make sure there is enough water in the bottom - It should be just UNDER the heating element.

3) If your dishwasher is getting enough water, Reset your washer and allow it to drain.

4) Go to the store and get a gallon jug of white vinegar. Start your dishwasher on a regular cycle.

5) Once you hear the jets turning, Open the door and add FOUR CUPS (liquid measure) of white vinegar to the water in the bottom. Let the wash cycle complete.

6) When the wash cycle drains, the rinse cycle will fill. Once the rinse cycle starts, add ANOTHER FOUR CUPS of white vinegar to the first rinse cycle.

7) Allow the first rinse cycle to drain. Let the second rinse cycle complete normally.

I know this sounds too good to be true, but it REALLY DID work for me, this evening as a matter of fact! I also bought some hard water/soap film detergent additive from the store. It was kind of expensive, but I'm using it for a while just in case.

I hope this helps. Like I said, I couldnt believe it when my dishes came out clear again! Also, I turned OFF the heated dry cycle, and just opened the door and pulled out the racks when it was done.

Good Luck!

Dishwasher soap dispenser won't open during cycle

I had the same problem with my GE Adora. The dishes were getting cloudy and the soap dispenser would not open. Turns out the hard water deposits were causing the soap dispenser to stick shut. I purchased and used Dishwasher Magic which is a dishwasher cleaner designed to remove limescale, rust and buildup. I used as directed and now my dishes are sparkling and the soap dispenser pops right open.
