Unplug the unit. The E90 code on the intex spa is due to a dirty water flow sensor. Remove the control panel and all the screw holding the casing on. In the white plastic piece on the discharge, top hose, you will see a silver nut with a black wire coming from it. That's the sensor. The black wire is plugged into a white wire, carefully unplug it and unscrew the sensor. Clean it good and blow out the hole it goes in. This will fix the code and you will be back in business!
I have this problem also, I tried removing and cleaning sensor, but it did nothing. Any other ideas?
I just completed this and I believe it solved my problem (so far so good). Please note I did this while the tub was full so water of course came shooting out so be prepared (you don't want that water getting into the exposed areas that are usually sealed off).
Is the black tab on top of the silver band at intake B (shown here) what you mean as the sensor? Did anyone do a video re:this repair? We're not mechanically inclined and hoping to resolve this. Thanks!
You need to take those 4 silver (philips head) screws out, lift off the back portion of the cover. You're not in deep enough yet.

Mine does not have a screw or it is invaded in black resin is it possible to just unplug and bypass the sensor?
where are you getting your info from, the sensor with the nut is a heat sensor the flow sensor is a black probe and is activated with a magnet under the white cover
I aggee they are heat sensors and the black probe but how to make the probe awere that there is water ?
I can not get the casing off I have removed all the screws and it does not budge!!!! I got the e90 code and since this is the 4th one I am determined to fix the damn thing please someone help!'
Do you self a favour .. I learned the hard way that when the filters are installed too tight it blocks flow and causes error 90 do this before u listen to all these guys that just want u to buy new parts .. filters only turn to the end of the thread do. It make it tight,, u should be able to take them off with 1 finger.. if u loosen it while the pump is on u will hear a rush of water .. there is your proof!! Tight my filters cause the pumps to over work and blow!!
None of these worked for me. I just installed the 3rd impellor in 4 months. Also cleaned everything that moves. What a piece of junk.
Just fixed mine myself. Broken pump shaft. Used a axle from a child's toy, same width cut it to length and put it back to together . Cleaned the sensors and it's working fine.

Here's the problem after going through 5 control base's yes that's where the pump is located i was beyond mad that this keeps happening so i got my tools out and took the pump apart. Well i did find the problem and yes i fixed it. Here's the deal the pump has a impeller like your fish tank filter pump has in it well it spins on a shaft guess what the shaft is some cheap ol plastic that breaks. Beings that the impeller is magnetic you have to use something that is not magnetic so i bought some round brass rod at hobby lobby and made cut one to size put it back together and it works like a champ!! I have 4 others to fix and store away i may make a Youtube video just sucks that intex can't spend .25 cents and make these things stay going.
I did this same thing and it worked perfectly. The axle thingy that they have on the impeller is made of plastic thinner than a lollipop stick, and just like you said it broke. Replaced it with a similar diameter brass rod from Ace Hardware, and just like you said, it fixed it!
Thanks!
How do I get to the impeller. Please help

Thanks for the tip, spent $10 at Home Depot for 1/8" brass rod, cut to length, coated with silicon grease and now have a functional hot tub and a spare pump.
We are dealing with this as well, we are not mechanically inclined. Did anyone do a "how to" video for this fix? Thanks!
Are there any videos or pictures to show me how to get to the sensor? You Tube?
What is the length?
Sean or Melanie, where are you located? I know how to do this, just need the right length. If you are close I will fix yours for free just to obtain the proper size for my own fix. If you are not close, can I walk you through how to open the pump up and measure it for me... and I can walk you through how to fix it for yourself?
Fixed it! The length of the impeller should be cut to 2 7/8" for those of you who want to do it yourself.
hey brian walsh im alex in orlando can you walk me trough how to fix this prob please email asap at your earliest convenience [email protected] thanks

It's not plastic
It's ceramic but I agree
It's a bad design!
Anything to control the impeller is fine but the inductet for the magnetic impeller goes bad also. Rebuilding the pump is in order sometimes and it's no fun!
Inducter...
I used a brass welding rod in mine. Just broke off the outside layer, cut to size and works like a champ.
I've replaced with brass 3 times now, only lasts about 2 weeks, brass wears quicker than the original ceramic rod......can't seem to find ceramic rods 1/8" x 2 7/8" cheaply.....ones I do find cost almost as much as a new pump from intex which is $50+shipping.
Where is the pump located please
I tried cleaning out the no water flow sensor socket but no change, still got error E90 code. When I took the pump apart I found that the rotor was damaged and rusty. I purchased a new pump rotor and spindle from uk agent and changed it but when I switch on the pump it runs strongly for 10 to 15 seconds then cuts out with E90 error message. Anything else you think I might try?
How did you take the pump apart? There are no screws and it looks like it's sealed. Thanks.
First of all, it was the 12 volt pump UNDER the unit(SPJ-H-10-1); no need to remove the main shroud.3 screws hold both pump and its shroud in place; all that remains is to uncouple the water outlet by hand loosening the large nut and sliding it back toward the pump, then pull the pump toward you with a wiggle an out it comes, then disconnect its cord by unscrewing the securing nut and pulling out the plug. Now the 5 screws holding the pump together can be removed to separate the wetend and reveal the impeller which can now be drawn out from the housing. Quite likely the stationary plastic rod in its center will be in pieces and you'll likely need forceps to remove a piece at the bottom of the housing from the rubber bushing holding it. Now you can use a piece of 1/8" brazing rod to make the new shaft once the flux is removed and the rod is smooth. Start with it a bit overlength and insert both ends into their respective bushings and the gap between the mating surfaces will determine how much length to remove for the final fit. Once done, the impeller can be slipped in and the pump reassembled. Testing can be accomplished by pulling the cover off a regular 12 volt battery charger and connecting small jumpers to the secondary winding of its transformer at its center tap and one end of that winding to get the 12 VAC for the pump.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! We are in possession of 3 heater/pump units. 2 have had the error and one came cracked. I swapped out the one from the cracked unit and success. Now I know how to fix it if/when it happens again.
Thank You Again!
Also disassembled the pump to find the impeller shaft broken in 3 pieces. Replaced it with a piece of 1/8" brass rod, cut to length. Fixed it for now!
I have no error code co.e up on my control panel but I can't get the bubbles to come on I have drained the air lock cleaned pool changed filter at a loss pool heats no water flow with bubbles when I hit bubble switch I hear a clicking but no bubbles help
Replaced the filter motor...still getting code???
My bubbles work great , but my filters not working, please help
Same as mine Mr. Darrell.
Unplug and reset after adding new filters each time??

Hi. Not sure if I get any reply as this is quite an old post but I have decided to fix my E90 fault by myself :)) followed a video on YouTube and found a problem in the actual pump. I need to get the brass shafft. I have the old plastic one but as it broke into 3 pieces I am worried if I even get a tiny measurement wrong it won't work. So does any of you know the actual size of it? I am from UK and spoke to intex today and they said I need to buy the whole pump which is £60 with delivery. So I said to myself I will try to fix it and if I am unlucky I can always buy it. So please if any of you knows the exact measurements of the brass shafft please get back to me :)
The water flow sensor is located next to the heating unit. You can rem9ve it with4 screws on the top. It apears to be a a contavt switch thay raises up to make contact when water flows thru.
What does error code e90 mean and how to solve it on Intex hot tub? So, the answer is here.
If you getting an error code of E90 on your Intex Inflatable hot tub control panel it means no water is flowing through the system. Check the attached troubleshooting guide. For solving this problem all you have to do is following these steps:
Clean the filter cartridge of the hot tub or replace it with a new one.If E90 persists, check and ensure there is no debris inside the spa tub inlet and outlet grids. If there is debris inside, unscrew the spa inlet/outlet grid with a Phillip screwdriver. Clean and replace it back.Make sure the spa water is clean and sanitized. If you don't want to see again E90 Error code on your Intex Hot tub make sure these 2 things:
Water is filled to the recommended level. The filter cartridge is clean and properly installed. Turn off or unplug the control unit. Remove the filter cartridge assembly from the spa tub. Turn on the control unit and activate the filtration to make sure there is water flowing through. https://www.hottubwiki.com/intex-hot-tub-error-code-e90-and-e96/
I recently bought a Pure Spa and within 30 minutes of operation I got the E90 error, the problem is that if there are any air bubbles in the filters it will not flow water and give the error.
Just take off the filters, shake them around under the water to remove the trapped air and put them back on - that's all it takes. I was going to send the tub back, its amazing that Intex doesn't know about this issue.
Thanks!
The pump is a one piece plastic magnetic with a flimsy thin ceramic shaft that breaks intex does not sell placement or have a repair kit the following link shows how to take apart the pump and reuse shaft best is to go to homedepot and for 10 bucks by i think was 3/16 flux welding or brazing rods =clean flux off rod [its brass ] and cut to length and use as replacement shaft

Has anybody encountered these symptoms my hot tub was left of running at 40 degrees as per usual next day i go out to find the error code alarm sounding off with error code e98 with a low temperature displaying straight after the error code their absolutely no water flow and cannot bypass the error code to use any other functions theirs seems to be sand and debris at the bottom of my pool as i emptied it is does anybody know is their a possibilty my unit is clogged up with dirt or if not what the problem may be
I know how to repair the pump! With water flow, the rest is fine after reboot on E90 error code.
Please do tell? Would like mine fixed!

SOURCE: We have a LED code showing on the new Intex pure spa. E97 Dry-fire Protection. What does it mean
Dry fire protection is when the heater has a call to heat but it is sensing NO water flow, therefore heater will be disabled.
A dry fire is when the heater comes on with NO water flow - damaging your heater beyond repair.
Causes: No water in tub, closed valves, clog restricting water flow, or the pressure/flow switch had failed?
SOURCE: Have intex spa was working fine now comes up with E90 code
