Fabric seal on Maytag Neptune dryer coming out.

The fabric seal in the front of the drum of my 3 1/2 yr old Maytag Neptune dryer is falling out. The repairman Maytag sent out says the simple part is only available by buying $350 drum assembly. Over $500 to repair with labor. Can another seal be used? Is this something we could do ourselves?

They told me the same thing. I just can't believe that the whole drum needs to be replaced. Surely just the felt gasket can be purchased?!

Give this site a try. Some guy on the forum had the Neptune issue and found a replacement seal. There are some how-to videos on YouTube(may not be your specific dryer, but same idea.) I'll let you have the joy of looking on YT.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW - Fabric Softener dispenser doesn't empty

I had a similar problem with the fab. softener chamber. Clean
out the buildup and it will drain. To do this, remove the cap and wipe out the softener. Also, be sure to wipe inside the drum, just below the dispenser.
As for a water flow to the dispenser- You will need to remove the plastic portion of the lid. Start with the detergent dispenser, then gently remove the bottom corners of the lid. Then are held by two plastic clasps. Then gently remove the "L" shaped plastic holders. Use a pipe cleaner to clean out the tube where the water flows directly out of the unit, before entering the lid. I did this last night, and it works beautifully!

3 - Select Cycle
4 - Load the Clothes Washer (add detergent on top of the load in the tub, and additives [fabric softener, bleach] in their dispensers).

This is according to the owner's manual I have. Has worked for 14 years for me.

My maytag neptune dryer is making a scratching noise.

If the sound seems to come from the front of the drum it's probably the felt guides. The bottom one will wear first and make a grinding, rattle like sound. You can access it by removing the front panel which includes the door. It fits around the drum at the front. Here's a diagram. Some models have a two piece and some a one piece guide. Part 4 on this diagram is one. It's called a seal here. DIAGRAM

If the sound comes from the rear, there is a nylon bearing and metal socket at the rear center of the drum.

Maytag neptune gas dryer front loader 9 years old has begun to squeak what is the most likely cause?

Either one of the rollers or the idler pulley is causing the squeak. Most common to go bad in a maytag dryer is the roller on the right, it sits just above the heating element. You need to take the drum out and spin each of the rollers and the idler pulley to determine which one is the problem, and replace it. good luck. Shane

Maytag Dryer Mosel #MDE6700AZW

you will need to remove the front panel and the front bulk head. after that you will see that there are clips that need to be pushed down to hold the fabric (felt) down. You need to make sure that the felt isn't torn. If it isn't torn then all you need to do is take a flat head screw driver pry the clips up and put the felt back on and push the clips back down

Dark stains on some clothes after drying

I had this same problem. I turned out to be the seal around the drum. You have to remove the drum and put in another seal. Not real hard to do. You can order the seal from sears and I think the glue came with it. Just have to remove the lint vent screws and then the top lifts off. then remove the screws to the front panel. Hold the drum because it will fall. Unhook the belt. Remember how it connects. Then take the drum off and remove the seal and as much leftover glue and fabric. Glue the new seal on and let dry. I did overnight. It should have directions. then replace everything. just make the seal is on the same way you took it off so look at everthing before you remove anything. Once the seal was replaced no more stains.

Belt Re-assembly

If you have a really old dryer (not a neptune), and if the idler pulley is about 4-in diameter you have chosen the hardest dryer to replace a belt on. There is a diagram on the bag your new belt came in. The door in the back of the dryer will be helpful. The tricky part about this one is that the fabric side of the belt goes against the basket drum.

A Neptune belt is easier, but can still be tricky.
First, put the drum in position against the back wall; but without the front supporting ring. The rubber side goes aginst the drum. Line up the new belt on the drum according to the marks left by the old belt.
Reach under the drum and match up the belt to its position on the motor pulley. Lift the idler pulley up until you can slide the belt onto it. Gently release the belt and idler pulley. Check to see if it stayed in position.
Carefully replace the support ring and install the four screws holding it in position. Slowly rotate the drum counter-clockwise about two full turns to better align the belt on the drum before restarting the machine.

Good luck!
