I got to the step where I would have to choose Wipe data but the menu never appeared. It tried ! An installer appeared and it looked like it was working but never saw the menu. I did see a yellow triangle but not a menu and the phone to not open See instructions: 1. Turn the power off. 2. Press and hold the three keys simultaneously until the phone completely turns on, then release the keys: Volume down key + Home key + Power key. 3. There are four options that will display on the screen. Select the "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" option by using the Volume down key. 4. Press the MENU key to execute the reset. 5. A confirmation will prompt on the screen. Use the Volume key to select "YES" and press the MENU key 6. Highlight "Reboot System Now" and press the MENU key. 7. Your phone will reset then power cycle.

youll need to preform a hard reset to remove the lock if you or daughter doesnt know code.

depends on kindle version.
hold power button in on position for 30-40 sec and let go and restart
or hold power and an android menu will appear
once you get into menu choose wipe cache first and then choose
wipe data/ factory reset and then reboot
this should remove lock

depending on kindle edition their may be a reset hole that needs to be pressed with a paper clip or saftey pin hold reset button for 30-40 sec.

Steps are:

1. turn it off
2. hold power and vol + button until menu appears
3. press vol - to highlight "recovery kernel"
4. press vol + to select it
5. press vol - and vol + at the same time
6. menu will appear use vol - to select "wipe data factory reset"
7. press power button to select it
8. press vol - to select "yes delete all user data"
9. press power button to select it
10. this will perform a few actions and take you back to the menu from step 6 should already be on "reboot system now"
11. press power button to select "reboot system now"
12. the Nabi will reboot and reset to factory defaults

I suggest you to perform a hard reset. You can do so by turning off the device and pressing the power button while holding the volume down key. Once the tablet is booted a recovery menu will appear scroll down to wipe the settings or choose to repair if the option appears by pressing the volume keys. If the repair do not work then try the wipe option which should be able to recover the software back to the factory defaults.
Note: Wipe will erase the data present on your tab Also make sure that tab is well chargerd before performing the repair or wipe.

Step 12- Press the "reset" button to reboot/restart the unit.
