The dishwasher will start, and run for about 15 minutes. Then stops. No lights are illuminated or anything once it stops. The soap dispenser opens, and it seems as though that is the last step that happens, as when I open the door, the soap is laying at the bottom of the machine. Ran the "Diagnostic cycle" and nothing seems to come up as being abnormal. Very frustrating.
Check for water dispenser pipe if there no water the machine will stop.
I would look into having the timer control diagnosed. If it malfunctions or is on it's way out, it will act up like that.
I had a similar experience. The garbage disposal had been recently replaced and the cutout plug where the dishwasher drain hose connects to the disposal had not been removed. I'm not saying this is your problem just adding to the list of things to check for a possible resolution.
Please provide the model number. If I can have a look at the schematic I might help you then.
Was this fixed?
Does the water drain if you turn off the cycle?
If it doesn't then it could be the floating censor that monitors the water level.
I had a similar experience. It turned out to be the primary pump- the capacitor specifically, the one that runs the wash cycles not the drain pump.
The capacitor is mounted on the pump be a nut and cannot be acquired independently. It's possible that a similar rated capacitor would be an option for replacement.
I bought a used pump on ebay and the problem was solved.
Have you tried turning circuit breaker on and off. If you have done everything else in the above answers. good luck
Sounds like a water problem. Do you have the hot water valve under the sink turned on? Is it at least a 3/8" inside diameter pipe to the dishwasher? Any kinks in the pipe? Check all this out.
Is there enough water pressure some times the cycles wont operate without other things working?

SOURCE: Soap dispenser still has the soap in it after the dishwasher cycle has ended...
do you have a salt unit fitted. I had the same problem and the repair guy had to replace the salt unit as it was blocked up. Failing that it might be the board not opening the solenoid to allow the water to be jetted through the soap dispenser.

A wax motor controls the opening of the lid. Also a seal that fits around the latch lever may be deteriorating and obstructing the function of the lever. Follow the link below for images and part numbers with cost.

SOURCE: KitchenAid dishwasher soap door won't open
I took the door apart and found the degertent door solinoid looking like it over heated and melted to the cover flap and the insulation. See picture. I can't post pic as the max is 150kb.
I applied power and it only got hot and wouldn't operate.
Next I go to Kitchenaid for a replacement - FREE it should be.

I would think you have a bad timer. That's what I would check out first.
Check the drain line where it is connected to the garbage disposer; there may be an obstruction caused by an accumulation of food debris plugging up the drain line at the point where it is connected to the garbage disposer.
Also, make sure the pump is running. If not check the impeller to make sure that there is no debris around it; if any is found, make sure to remove
Most things like Dishwashers and Washing machines / Washer Dryers have a safety cut or Fail safe mechanism which cuts in when the pipe taking waste away is blocked or the pump is unable to remove a blockage . Unplug ythe machine first, Pull out the machine and check the waste pipe first and then the pump .
Use a bowl or bouncer to gather any waste water.
You could use an old thin metal coat hanger straightened out or a long wooden dowel rod to put into the waste pipe to check for a blockage .
When your hands are clear of anything Electrical plug in the machine onto a cycle remembering to leave the waste pipe in the bucket or bowl.
Checking movement in the pump area to see if it struggles to remove waste .
Failing this it could mean the watercsupply is not getting into the machine therefor not being able to complete a cycle .
I would agree with Jacques Force above that there may be debris keeping the water dump valve open. This will prevent retention of wash water or rinse water either one. Glasses and dishes will appear as if uncleaned. Soap dispenser will show either soap still in it or having drained out of it. A replacement of the check valve is a simple matter and can be replaced for around $12. To verify this is the problem allow the dishwasher to fill up prior to a washer operation and then open the door halting the timer and procedures. Take note if the water level slowly is reduced by drainage. If so I would replace the drain check valve
