The easiest way is a USB card reader for the computer. Remove the storage card and put it in the reader. It will be cheaper than a cable unless it is a standard USB connector lead USB to Mini-USB.

Most of the time this is caused by dirt, grit or sand in the lens mechanism. The best way to fix this is to use an air compressor. Put the nozzle to the space between the lens and the camera and blow air into the space, you may have to do it a few time until its clean.
