Pny 16gb attachi flash drive reccognized by my computer but says insert disk into drive when I left click it

All pen and SD cards show up as removable hard drives. Removable or not they can be treated the same. You can format again just by right clicking on it, or use diskmgmt.msc to fully manage via the MS management console.

It's basically doing the same as you did from the cmd prompt.

If you asking to restore files, then you require a 3rd party software. There is Recuva (free), Wondershare, and Stellar. They all do the same thing.

click start click on my computer you should see your memory card
right click then select format

another way is to control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your memory card or it might be listed as a mass storage device
select format

you will see what its formatted in

Format it by using a device like a camera, the computer will not work to format this type of memory. I know this from own experience with 4 different computer in my house..

Try reformatting it:

**THIS WILL DELETE ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE**

1. Open Finder
2. Applications 3. On the left column, you should see your thumb drive. Click on it.
4. Click on the "Erase" tab near the top
5. For "Format:" select "FAT32"
6. Click on the "Erase..." button

the computer is not seeing it properly un plug,then refit ,are the contacts clean,

Normally most of the pen drive are plug and play means the hardware is recognised automatically by windows.
Try the following steps below:
>start
>setting
>control panel
>administrative tools
>computer management
>in left column click disk management
>then you can perform format according to your choice.

Sometimes when a flash memory stick fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. If the device is removed by just pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so.

When the flash memory device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy.

You need to format the external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs).
Insert the external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health

Connect your Pny attachi to USB port on your laptop using USB cabel available with your attachi, your laptop will detect the external device automatically and or it might also ask you to install drivers which you can install using CD available with Pny, once you have done you can easily transfer and share anything you want.

There is no button. The drive is defective.
